🌿 Volunteer at a Spanish School and Organic farm in San Rafael, Antioquia! 🎶📸
Hola! Thanks for checking out our eco-lodge, Spanish school, and organic farm in San Rafael, Antioquia. We are just three hours from Medellín- located on a 15 hectare jungle reserve with the river el Macanal running through the middle of our property.
We are now accepting volunteers with specific skills that align with our project’s needs. If you have experience in any of the following areas, we’d love to hear from you!
✅ TEFL-certified English teacher
✅ Photographer (for documenting our project)
✅ Musician (to perform during live music nights)
✅ Biologist to record local flora and fauna
If you have other abilities that you think could be a help for us, don't hesitate to reach out!
What We Offer
In exchange for 25 hours of work per week, you’ll receive:
🏡 7 nights of accommodation in a shared dorm
🍽 3 meals per day from our farm-to-table restaurant
What You’ll Do
Your tasks will depend on your skill set. You may be:
📸 Capturing and editing stunning photos and videos of our eco-lodge and activities
🎤 Performing live music on weekends or giving music lessons
📚 Teaching English to our staff and community members
We may ask you to help us in gardens, with recycling initiatives, or other projects on our nature reserve!

Travellers on the farm have the opportunity to spend time around el macanal river in San Rafael, Antioquia--getting to know a small community of Colombians and immigrants living in the Antioquian mountains. We are trying new farming techniques, new types of construction and in general trying to learn new things as often as possible.

--Looking for photographers to help with the publicity and documentation for our project!
As many of our volunteer oportunities will change with the season as well as with the skills a volunteer brings to the table, it is a bit difficult to describe the daily tasks of all volunteers. That said, we expect 5 hours of good help five days a week!

On the farm we have several dormitories, and private rooms depending on our availability and your preference!

Our farm is located on the river el Macanal in San Rafael, Antioquia. We are quite isolated, but surrounded by beautiful nature. With ten beautuiful swimming spots, and a waterfall on the property, the surrounding nature should keep you occupied in your freetime. There is also an eco lodge on the property with a bar, live music, and restaurant for some weekend entertainment. The town of San Rafael is about an hour walk away, or a ten minute walk and 15 minute tuc tuc drive.

Typically are internet is stable. We have a local internet provider for the entrance of the hotel and starlink in the area of the restaurante. We are in a rural area with power outages and storms, so every few weeks we are without internet for at least a few hours while maintenance is being done or while there are big storms.

Stayed at the organic farm for 2 weeks and had an amazing exchanging cultures with the local workers and fellow Workawayers. The work was steady and well directed, with plenty of varied tasks throughout the weeks. The food and drinks were fantastic, as well as the natural scenery. Die Besitzer sind sehr freundlich und flexibel. wir haben morgens 3 Stunden gearbeitet und danach hat man freie Zeit um sich zu entspannen, zum River zu gehen etc. Das Essen war auch sehr lecker. The eco lodge is in a beautiful location right next to a river and in the mountains. After work you can go swimming and hiking. I really enjoyed my one week stay here :) it was the perfect place to relax, quite, in the middle of nature with a beautiful Rio to swim and relax in after work. I loved working in the garden and being in nature. all the stuff and Jesse are lovely and I would definitely recommend this Workaway.

My experience was really beautiful.. I made great friends. The work is sometimes hard but also only for 3 hours a day in the morning. Had the most magical two weeks while working for Jesse and his incredible team. The work can be quite physical at times but is very rewarding and it varies between planting, weeding, making beds for vegetables, making compost and many more fun activities. The ecolodge is located very close to the river which is the perfect spot to be at after work.

My stay at hosts was really nice! Every day we worked 3 hours in the morning on the farm where we either would weed, plant, dig etc. The rest of the day we could just relax, take a swim in the river or go to the cute village San Rafael! The 3 meals are good and made with the vegetables of the garden :). Could recommend this place!!

Nos quedamos 10 días en la finca maravillosa de Jesse y sus compañeros. Es un lugar increíble rodeado de pura naturaleza unos 25 min con motocarro de San Rafael. Porque somos músicos, nuestro trabajo fue darle clases de música a Jesse. También hicimos pan de masa madre para su restaurante. Jesse nos brindó cabañita privada y tres comidas diarias.… read more

Jason was a great person to have on the farm. He stayed a short time with us, but it was a time much appreciated. Jason is social, motivated, and easy-going. We highly recommend him-- hed be great help on any of your projects.

Jesse invited us to come for a two-day trial, during which we spent working in their garden. Unfortunately, there wasn't much more work for us to do so our stay was just a couple days.
