  We are a small, independent rescue shelter in Coron, Palawan. We are home to 100+ cats and dog, who have been rescued from traumatic situations.
  
  The shelter was created 5 years ago by a local called Victoria. Victoria was horrified after discovering that stray dogs were being rounded up and taken to the dumpsite where they would have a tortuous death. She rented a small plot of land and our shelter was created…
  
  As well as being home to many rescues, we also complete street feeding and medication mission, support community pets and fund mass sterilisation events.
  
  The team is only small. We have Victoria the founder, 2 live-in caretakers and a social media/ admin/ fundraising volunteer.
  
  Our shelter is based 15 minutes from Coron Town and it is highly recommended you hire a scooter for ease.
  
  Coron is known for its lagoons, limestone cliffs, diving spots and beautiful islands. You will also be able to camp on our private beach which is only reachable via boat — an opportunity to escape the busy crowds with no other people except some of our rescue dogs.

  Our founder Victoria is fluent in Tagalog, Italian and English. Our caretakers speak Tagalog with limited English. If you wish to learn about our culture and language then just ask. We hope to teach our volunteers about the challenges we face with animal welfare in Coron, whilst open to feedback from our guests.

  Ayuda

  Daily tasks will include cleaning, helping with feeding, bath time, dog walking and general socialisation of cats & dogs. You will also complete some street feeding where you’ll be given a location of where to focus on. We frequently have volunteers for just a couple of hours so you may welcome them and shown them round. There will also be some social media content creation tasks — you are not required to be in front of the camera, unless you want to be.
  
  There will be no “difficult” tasks, however you must be extremely confident with dogs.

  Alojamiento

  The main accommodation will be at the shelter in a “unit” — the room is basic with a double bed. The door to the room has a lock and a large fan is available. Sometimes a few of the dogs like to sleep in the room with you, however they can be placed outside of the room. There is basic shared bathroom and currently there is only a bucket for washing. Meals are not provided, however there is a stove in the outdoor kitchen for you to cook on.
  
  The final night will be spent on our private beach. Here there is a private camping tent and a shared basic bathroom. Meals will be provided here but you can also bring your own food to cook.

  The preference is that you will have a scooter as this is the easiest way to get about — tricycles in Coron are expensive. During your time off there are lots of tours to explore nearby lagoons and islands, as well as diving or snorkelling.
  
  During your time on our private beach, you’ll be relaxing with no tasks.
  
  As well as working at the shelter Victoria also has a shop in town so works here until midnight. There are no house rules other than please be respectful to the culture and the shelter — the accommodation and shelter is basic, but we are trying our best with the limited donations that we receive.
