Hi there! My name is Veronica, I have been hosting workaways since 2016, and we've been enjoying the exchange of cultures this platform provides.
Our history
In 2015, my daughter and I decided to leave the city and live our dream -- to live close to the beach but after 9 years the population grew too fast and felt it was time to seek other spaces more quiet.
I moved to Manito, Albay and Miel and her growing family decided to return to urban living. I am are currently still finishing the house I had built while doing some gardening and planning a landscape for the purpose to live sustainably. Reagan and his wife our caretakers of the farm are my closest neighbors. We have approximately 15 hectares. Great help is if you know how to garden and don't mind getting dirty, also the room I have for the volunteers is still in the making and if you have building skills (we can discuss this further) it would really be great! Best experience I had with the volunteers was the recipe exchange, we take turns cooking for each other.
We enjoy meeting people and learning about their culture, making new friends, learning new recipes and enjoying great food, listening to adventure stories. Relaxing with a great view - the majestic Mayon Volcano. We are 40 plus kilometres from the volcano so it's a safe place. Reagan goes night fishing in the mangroves nearby and there's a beautiful beach about 6km away.
The air is fresh and clean and the birds, crickets sing everyday!

You will experience Filipino hospitality, engage with the local community, and could learn some Tagalog and Bicol the local dialect. We also have plenty of recipes to share! You will definitely make new friends, and will most of all enjoy the farm life our way...we are just beginning this new project.
Ayuda
It would be great if you are skilled with carpentry, basic plumbing (help in fixing leaks, replacing faucet), or gardening. Extra great if your know how to cook!
We need help with maintaining cleanliness like:
•Sweeping the grounds
•Making sure the kitchen and bathrooms are always clean
•Emptying trash bins
•Some gardening - Watering the plants, plucking out weeds
•Organizing and Decluttering
*We thought that you should know that rainy season is from November to February, so some of the tasks mentioned above may not be done on a daily basis due to the rain since we mostly live outdoors.
We have 2 friendly resident dogs and there are cows and carabaos around.
You may also help us in bathing the dogs, and feeding them.
Current Projects:
- painting the room and bathroom
- setting up the room for volunteers
- putting up an electric fence to protect our plants from being eaten by the cows and carabaos.

You can go to the beach on your free time, but we always make time to watch the sunset.
There are waterfalls nearby, best time to go there is during our rainy season (June-September.
You can just relax on the hammock and read a book.
Locals come together to play beach football.
There is a gym nearby that offers calisthenics and yoga classes.
Some nights (mostly weekends) there are social gatherings at other resorts/bars.
Zambales is a coastal province there are many beaches all along the whole province accessible by bus and tricycle.
The nearest mall is 40km away also accessible by bus.

I don't think I knew how to relax until I came here! I left Liwa with amazing memories, wonderful friends and some fantastic recipes, too.
Everyone at the homestay was so welcoming and fun and made me feel part of their little community, even in the short two weeks I spent there.

Tita and Miel where great hosts for my first workaway. Their place has a real chilled family atmosphere vibe. You eat yummy local food, get the real Filipino cultural experience, the work is minimal and they have cool doggie friends. Great place if you're a surfer or want to read in a hammock. Hey out there,
I did my third Workaway here and I can highly recommend this place if you need a break. It's an inspiring place with beautiful people. You can enjoy sunsets at the beach, play ukulele, read good books or have a good, deep, inspirational chat.
It's easy work and enough time to do what u like.

I stayed almost 3 weeks , and although I came at a time when Tita and Miel were not around very often, I got to meet them and they are very generous and inspiring women. The resort is quiet in the week and full of friendly guests in the weekend so there is not much to do in the week but the place is just full of good vibes.

In this place i spent 1 week and this was nice expirience. Work was basic and ever easy. There were more volunteers. We helpes each other cooking, cleaning ect. Beach is few steps away.
