    Our Mission Statement:

To provide land for individuals, families, and travelers to learn, teach, and experiment in a variety of sustainable and self-sufficient living skills. To be a place where those that want to help others can themselves prosper through profit share, in a community that provides a more wholesome and earth friendly alternative lifestyle. To encourage and assist in the application of these skills and ideas in our surrounding communities, and among our neighbors. To establish a network of these (similar/ like-minded) communities across the country and beyond, which function as way-stations for travelers, as well as hubs of learning and empowerment for a sustainable future. To be fun, but family friendly, while adhering to a positive work ethic that acknowledges the value of our neighbors, and our community as a whole. To be as inclusive, fair, and efficient as possible while keeping a productive pace. To hold ourselves to a high standard therefore setting a good example.

    The Land

Our 21 acres has vegetable & herb gardens, an orchard, berry patches, shiitake logs, a farm stand, chicken coops, pig pens, access to creeks, a small waterfall, the peaceful pond, conservation land, walking trails, undeveloped forest, kids playground, library, outdoor kitchen and dining hall, bonfire circles, small cabins, community cabin, school buses converted into living spaces, RV and van sleeping spaces, a stage, a tower, composting outhouse, shower house, greenhouse, tool sheds, and wood sheds.

    Current projects*️️

Weeding, mulching, planting, chopping wood, reopening our outdoor kitchen, repairs of a toolshed, greenhouse, buses, chicken coops, fences, and more repairs!, tree pruning, medicinal herb garden installation, interior construction of an office (i.e. Head Quarters), building a thermal mass heater in the school house, chicken care, fermentations and preservations, rainwater catchment installation, and networking with other communities and farms.

*️️These are ongoing projects that people here are working on or have interest in doing. They are listed so that travelers can get a sense of what it's like here at different times of the year, and what sort of projects to expect us to be working on.
Travelers are asked to help in areas that they are interested in helping with, otherwise gardening is where we need help the most.

We sell at two farmers markets, stock our on site farm stand, donate to the local food bank and share or trade with our neighbors.

    Other Stuff

We are off grid, utilizing solar and thermal energy; we cook over a fire or in a clay oven, heat shower water with an Amish hot water heater, and pump well water using solar panels. Our structures are built mostly from salvaged and recycled materials. We expect 25 hours a week of work, and go swimming usually every day in the summer when it gets hot! We organize events at the farm like work parties, birthday parties, & full moon bonfires, as well as go to musical shows together. The surrounding area is tobacco country, so work opportunities on a tobacco farm may be presented. We are home base for a nonprofit organization called the Peoples Project. There is a Peoples Project caravan that travels to other communities helping with gardens and other sustainability projects, and also does activist work- specifically advocating for clean drinking water and providing disaster relief.

We have a range of personalities and talents on the farm and most everyone is welcome! We come from many walks of life but we share a passion for helping others and community living. The community is ever changing- come learn and grow with us!
