I stayed with Verity, Dave, Ada and Matai for 1 month in December in 2019. This was my second workaway and I had such a great time! I felt like a part of the family, happy and home. I learned so much being here and they were so patient with me to explain me everything. The house and all animals around it were lovely.

… read more celebrate Christmas and New Year with the whole family. Dave and Verity helped me a lot when I bought my car and I will be always thankful. They gave me also a lot of helpful tips with beautiful places, because I was travelling around New Zealand after the time with the family. The kids are just amazing. Both of them have a big heart and I really enjoyed the time with them.
New Zealand is the most beautiful country I have ever seen. It´s been my dream for a very long time and I didn´t get dissapointed.

Hannah stayed with us for two weeks. She was able to help us in the garden wedding and pruning. She also helped us with general household chores such as washing some very dirty windows! She helped the kids gain more confidence with the station horse Bonnie and was very encouraging and positive with them. She also liked to try new things like

Natasha joined our family for two weeks bringing with her the fun of the Irish. She was able to help us with with jobs which we often neglect when busy on the farm. She helped weed in the garden, clear and prune hedging, general housework and cook some of her delicious family treats. Our children enjoyed her fun and wit and she was always happy to

What a fantastic two weeks! This kiwi family is one of the most warm, genuine families I've ever met. I was with them during the holidays, so I was able to spend time with the awesome Ada and cool Matai; two fun, smart and active kids! Vee is hilarious and was a source of botanical and foodie information (I've been munching on dandelion leaves on
… read more my travels now!) I really learned alot and I have lots of plans for when I get back home thanks to her. (Like owning a cast iron pan and making the most amazing pancakes) Dave is a very knowledgeable man and can explain how pretty much anything works. This goes from organic farming to mountainbikes. Coombie the cat is an absolute queen and Charlie the pony is a pooping machine.
So now you know how wonderful this family is!
Some other useful info:
Jobs were generally done in the mornings so you would have your afternoons free. I was always included in activities such as movie nights and visits. But I could have spent this time relaxing on my own too. It was totally up to me and Dave and Vee are very flexible in this regard.

We have just loved having Evi spend time with our family and was really sad to see her go! She spent two wonderful weeks with us and put energy, hardwork and enthusiasm into all the tasks that we needed help with. Moreover I find it inspiring how they respect nature, live a sustainable and eco-friendly life and I am already looking forward to the yummy food that we'll cook when I am coming back. I must say, my way of cooking changed a lot since I got to try Vees food and I am so greatful for all the recipes that I learned.
As mentioned already, I mainly worked outside for a couple of hours and the tasks were always a bit different so it never got boring.
Last but not least, I really enjoyed getting to all the grandma's and pa's, cousins, aunts and uncles and of course all the animals (especially Choombie).
Thank you again for trusting and treating me like a family member. I will always remember the time on your lovely farm!
