Descripción
Hello!
We are Stephanie, JC, and our daughter Amazon, a family creating a small nature-based learning community in the beautiful mountain town of El Valle de Antón, Panama.
Our project is inspired by forest school, Montessori, Waldorf, worldschooling, conscious parenting, practical life skills, and a deep respect for childhood and community.
We believe children learn best through meaningful experiences, creativity, connection, nature, and participation in real life.
We are currently in the early stages of developing our learning space and are looking for enthusiastic, hands-on people who would enjoy contributing to a growing community project.
What We Are Building
This is more than a learning program. It is an evolving vision of a slower, more connected way of life where children, families, and community can grow together.
Projects may include:
Gardening and food-growing projects
Creating outdoor learning spaces
Natural building projects
Trail maintenance and land stewardship
Building simple structures
Art and creative projects
Organizing community spaces
Supporting family and community events
Caring for animals and outdoor areas (as the project grows)
We especially love welcoming people who enjoy working with their hands, being outdoors, and contributing ideas.
Who We Are Looking For
People who enjoy:
Nature and outdoor living
Gardening and sustainability
Building and creating
Alternative education
Family and community life
Children and respectful relationships
Slow travel and cultural exchange
No special experience is required. Curiosity, initiative, kindness, and a willingness to contribute are far more important. Waldorf / Montessori certification is a plus!
Life in El Valle
El Valle de Antón is a unique mountain town located inside the crater of an extinct volcano, about two hours from Panama City.
The area offers:
Rivers and waterfalls
Hiking trails
Wildlife and birdlife
Farmers markets
A growing international community
A cooler climate than most of Panama
It is an ideal place for people who enjoy nature, community, and a slower pace of life.
We look forward to meeting people who resonate with this vision and would like to contribute to something meaningful while experiencing life in one of Panama's most beautiful places.
Warmly,
Stephanie, JC & Amazon -

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje
We see cultural exchange as one of the most meaningful parts of this experience. Our space brings together local Panamanian culture, international families, nature-based education, and community living. We love creating opportunities for genuine connection, shared learning, and everyday life experiences together.
Workawayers are welcome to join many aspects of our daily rhythm and community activities, including:
- shared meals and conversations
- local markets and community events
- nature walks, rivers, waterfalls, and hiking
- creative gatherings with children and families
- seasonal celebrations, storytelling, music, art, and outdoor activities
- slow evenings connecting, cooking, or sharing ideas together
We can share experiences and knowledge related to:
- forest school and nature-based learning
- alternative and holistic education approaches
- parenting and community-centered living
- tropical gardening and slower living rhythms
- bilingual environments (English and Spanish)
- creativity, storytelling, music, and child-led learning
- building intentional community projects from the ground up
We especially enjoy meaningful conversations about culture, education, sustainability, travel, family life, personal growth, and different ways of living around the world.
At the same time, we hope to learn from the people who come here. We love hearing different perspectives, traditions, recipes, songs, languages, creative ideas, and life experiences. Hosting people from different cultures brings new energy and inspiration to our community and helps the children grow up with openness, curiosity, and a wider understanding of the world.
We hope Workawayers leave not only with memories of Panama’s beautiful nature, but also feeling that they became part of something authentic, collaborative, and heart-centered. -
Ayuda
We are looking for kind, creative, proactive people who enjoy working with children, nature, and community life. The help we need can vary depending on the season and current projects, but most tasks are connected to our learning community, outdoor spaces, and daily rhythms.
Some examples of help include:
- assisting with children’s activities, storytelling, art, music, nature walks, and creative play
- helping prepare simple learning materials or outdoor invitations for children
- gardening, watering plants, caring for outdoor spaces, and light eco-projects
- helping with organization, cleaning, and maintaining welcoming shared spaces
- supporting community events, family gatherings, or workshops
- helping document projects through photography, video, social media, or creative content (if that is one of your skills)
We love collaboration and shared learning, so many tasks are done together. We enjoy exchanging ideas about education, parenting, worldschooling, regenerative living, creativity, wellness, and intentional community life. If you have your own gifts — music, art, movement, languages, gardening, cooking, building, crafting, photography, or teaching skills — we are very open to integrating them into the experience.
This experience is best for people who are adaptable, communicative, respectful, and genuinely interested in meaningful connection rather than just accommodation. Life here is simple, nature-centered, family-oriented, and often very hands-on.
We especially welcome people who enjoy:
- children and family environments
- outdoor living and tropical nature
- creative and holistic education
- slow living and community rhythms
- cultural exchange and shared experiences
No formal teaching experience is required — the most important qualities are warmth, initiative, openness, and a willingness to participate wholeheartedly in community life. -
Idiomas
Idiomas hablados
Inglés: Fluido
Español: IntermedioEste anfitrión ofrece intercambio de idiomas
Our environment is naturally bilingual, with both English and Spanish spoken throughout daily life and community activities. Many local families speak Spanish, while some international families and visitors speak English, so Workawayers often have opportunities to practice both languages in real-life settings. We especially enjoy cultural and language exchange through everyday experiences — shared meals, storytelling, songs, nature activities, conversations with families, local markets, and community gatherings. We welcome people who would like to improve their Spanish, share their native language, or simply experience a multilingual environment in a relaxed and meaningful way. -
Alojamiento
Workawayers will stay in a private room within the family home.
The room includes:
A private bedroom
A private bathroom with hot shower
Bedding and linens provided
Access to a washing machine and dryer
Wi-Fi access
Shared access to outdoor spaces and common areas
We value both community and personal space. While we enjoy sharing meals, projects, and conversations, we also respect each person's need for privacy and downtime.
Our home is located in the beautiful mountain town of El Valle de Antón, surrounded by nature, gardens, and easy access to rivers, waterfalls, hiking trails, and local markets.
We provide ingredients and access to a shared kitchen so Workawayers can prepare their own meals.
Fresh local fruits and vegetables are readily available in El Valle, and we often share meals as a family when schedules align. -
Algo más...
Our lifestyle is fairly simple, family-oriented, and connected to nature. We value kindness, communication, flexibility, and mutual respect in shared spaces. Because this is both a home and a learning environment for children and families, we try to maintain a calm, supportive, and conscious atmosphere.
We appreciate people who:
communicate openly and respectfully
are independent and proactive
are comfortable with simple living and tropical nature
genuinely enjoy being around children and community life
are mindful of shared spaces and rhythms
El Valle de Antón is a beautiful mountain town with many things to explore during free time, including hiking trails, waterfalls, rivers, hot springs, local markets, cafes, yoga spaces, and nearby nature reserves. The town has a mix of local Panamanian culture and international residents, making it a unique place for cultural exchange and slower living.
Transport around town is usually possible by walking, bicycle, or local taxis. Public buses also connect El Valle with Panama City and other nearby areas.
A few important things to know:
- Tropical living means insects, rain, mud, heat, and changing weather are part of daily life.
- Our project is still evolving, so flexibility and adaptability are very appreciated.
- We are not a party environment; we value restful and respectful shared living.
- Some days can be active and hands-on, while others are slower and more relaxed depending on community rhythms and projects.
We especially enjoy hosting people who are excited about meaningful experiences, nature connection, creativity, education, and authentic cultural exchange rather than traditional tourism. -
