* Please note that we are mainly looking for girls or women [18—35] since the room is shared, and we prefer a stay of at least six weeks.
🗓 We are currently looking for someone for a cultural exchange stay from March 29.
🗓 Or from May 5th...
Hello Ladies👋🏻,
How nice that you've found our page! We'd like to introduce ourselves briefly. We are a friendly and active family of five: a Swiss father, Chris, and a Dutch mother, Michelle, both 39 years old; two beautiful, very happy twin boys, Ayron and Aymon (6 years old); and our one-year-old baby girl, Ayleana. Completing our family are two friendly cats, Cairo and Sphinx🐾, who love receiving care and attention.
👨👧👩👦👦We are an internationally minded family who loves cultural exchange—discussing languages, traditions, customs, and politics. We believe it's important for our children to develop a broad cultural perspective from an early age, getting to know people from different backgrounds, countries, and languages. And, of course, this applies to us as adults as well! Food is an excellent way to connect, and we enjoy sharing a culinary exchange. We'd love to introduce you to traditional Swiss dishes and cheeses while learning about the cuisine of your home country.
👦🏼👦🏼 Boys
Our twin boys are cheerful, love learning and playing, and are generally very easygoing. They enjoy educational quality moments like music, reading, math, or creative afternoons. While they still need some guidance for routines like going to school and bedtime, they are also quite capable of entertaining themselves.
👶 Baby girl
Recently, our family life has centered more around our youngest, Ayla. While she was initially glued to her mother, she has now grown to love the fun and nurturing moments shared with her "work-away sisters." She enjoys observing and even "helping" with tasks like cooking 😉 or joining in on her brothers' activities. Ayla is a curious and bright little girl, and naturally, much of our care and attention has shifted toward her.
👨🏼👩🏻 Parents
Michelle loves creating a supportive and stimulating environment for all the kids and truly enjoys caring for them and watching them grow. While Chris works full-time, Michelle is at home, dedicating herself to completing her master's degree in Artificial Intelligence (Computer Science). Alongside her studies and being a mom, she is also in training to become a certified Wim Hof Method instructor, which adds another layer of focus and commitment to her daily routine. However, finding the necessary uninterrupted hours for studying and training remains challenging. This is why we seek help—to allow Michelle to balance being a present mom while dedicating the necessary time to academic and personal growth.
🌟 community and family values
Our family is deeply centered around the idea of community. Helping one another and learning together is an important part of how we raise our children. The boys actively participate in this approach, constantly learning new skills, helping around the house, and contributing to our shared family life. By joining us, you'll be stepping into this community spirit, where everyone contributes to maintaining a warm, supportive, and enriching home environment.
🌎Family languages
Our children are being raised in four languages: English, Dutch, Swiss-German, and German. We love for our children to get into contact with many different languages while they are still so sensitive to them and fast learners. However, This can be quite challenging, so the languages they hear must be correct. Therefore, we require that you have one of these languages as your native language or at a similar level. Additionally, the language you use when speaking with our children should be your mother tongue. Due to the various nationalities in our household, English is often our everyday language. Social activities and conversations are important to us in fostering a sense of community, so it's essential that you have a good level of conversational English.
🏔The great outdoors
We value spending time outdoors as a family, whether playing in the garden, exploring waterfalls, walking in the woods, strolling by the river, or heading to the lake for an afternoon. Our children thrive in nature, and we encourage plenty of outdoor time whenever the weather allows. It is an essential part of our daily rhythm.
If you are interested, don't hesitate to write to us! We'd love to chat more and tell you all about our family.
Please note: Just to avoid unnecessary disappointment, we need a fixed plane/train ticket to confirm your stay with us, and we let the Workaway team know about any late cancellations or changes to arrangements.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

☕️Sociability
We offer a lot of sociability, whether it's watching movies, playing games, doing crafts, or making music. We love meeting new people and exchanging ideas about different cultures, philosophies, and perspectives. With our background in travel and work, we’ve encountered many ways of living and thinking, and we enjoy meaningful conversations about nations, traditions, and worldviews. Of course, we also like relaxing with a good series on Netflix or Apple TV!
If you want to practice a language, we’re happy to chat with you in Swiss German, Dutch, or English.
📚Learning about life: family, nutrition, health & sustainability
Michelle can guide you through practical and philosophical aspects of family life, including:
* Running a household efficiently and sustainably
* Raising children with insights from Montessori, "Hunt, Gather, Parent", Waldorf (Vrije School), baby sign language, and early potty training.
* Cooking & nutrition, including the health benefits of food, and for example baking gluten-free sourdough bread
* Organic Gardening
* Low-waste approaches
Additionally, if you’re interested in boosting your energy and resilience, Michelle can guide you through some cold resistance training, breathing techniques, and yoga.
Many of the ladies who visit us are at a turning point in their lives—choosing a career path, considering a study change, or deciding on their next steps. We love listening, reflecting, and helping you gain clarity during your stay. Whether it’s about personal growth, career decisions, or life direction, we’re happy to support you in taking your next step forward...Proyectos con niños

💪🏼What We Need Help With
We are seeking support with various tasks in and around the house, including cooking, baking, organizing meals, vacuuming, cleaning, washing, and folding. You may also like to help maintain our vegetable garden if you have green fingers. A lot of effort in a household with kids goes into all kinds of tidying and organization. You may indicate in advance which areas you consider your strengths and where you would like support. We prioritize health and sustainability, dedicating substantial time to nutrition while also striving to improve our environmental footprint. We are part of an organic greenhouse community, where we help grow and harvest vegetables and fruits.
If you love animals, you can help care for our lovely cats. Our house is filled with beautiful plants that provide us with a healthy dose of oxygen, and we appreciate support in tending to them. Additionally, we enjoy engaging in various DIY projects—anything from sewing to making furniture or working on a seasonal table for the kids.
Occasionally, we may also look for assistance with house- and cat-sitting while we are on vacation.
📚A Learning Opportunity
There's always plenty to do, so motivation, multitasking, and initiative are key as are teamwork and collaboration; we encourage you to ask questions and embrace this experience as an opportunity to learn and connect. Your role as part of our little community is both about helping and about learning. Michelle can guide you through the process of running a household, raising kids, and gardening by sharing insights into daily tasks and responsibilities. We understand that it takes time to feel at home in our family- what matters most is your willingness to engage, contribute, and be part of a mutual feedback cycle. We appreciate people who bring energy and positivity while also helping maintain a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Open communication and a mindset for growth are at the core of our home.
Do tell us also what your particular talents are. Maybe it's precisely that which we haven't been thinking of yet but which we could really well use.Idiomas

We recently moved to the Luzern region, close to the stunning Entlebuch Nature Park. Our home is nestled on a peaceful piece of land, shared with neighbors who run a Demeter organic farm.
🏡 The house
Our "Baubiologisch Haus" is built with careful consideration of environmental and human well-being. This means that no harmful substances were used in the construction, and fresh air circulation is prioritized. We also have a Pflanzenkläranlage, a natural wastewater system where plants filter the water in an eco-friendly way.
Surrounded by gardens, meadows, and mountain views, our house offers plenty of space to relax. You’ll always find a quiet corner for reading, working, or simply unwinding. We also participate in a vegetable garden project, growing our own Demeter-quality organic produce. Each week, we carefully select fresh ingredients from our greenhouse and garden to include in our meals.
During your stay, you’ll have access to a spacious 25m² guest room with mountain views and a patio. The room is shared with another guest, but the two beds are separated by a closet wall, allowing for personal space. It is furnished so you can retreat in comfort when needed. The bathroom, kitchen, living room, and terrace are shared with us. If you’re a musician, you’re welcome to use our music corner.
We care about the earth and sustainability. Despite our busy lives, we think about it, and we contribute in our way. We consider our water consumption, the waste we create, not wasting food, not leaving lights burning unnecessarily, and not wasting heat. This is by no means strict, but we expect our guests to consider the environment while staying here.
We only use 100% natural soaps and cleaning products in our home, aligning with our environmentally friendly lifestyle.
🥗Food & Meals
We eat three times a day, typically:
Morning – A healthy smoothie
Lunch – A warm, nutritious meal
Evening – A light salad dish with crackers
Lunch and dinner are enjoyed together, either indoors or outside. While we eat a vegetable-rich, healthy diet, we are accustomed to various dietary preferences, including vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan, lactose-free, and gluten-free. Any special dietary needs, as long as you are used to eating vegetables, are absolutely no problem.
Five years ago, we adopted elements of the Wahls Protocol, meaning we aim to eat sugar-free, gluten-free, and low-carb as much as possible. That said, we also store regular high-carb and sugary foods for guests. You don’t have to change your eating habits—but you might be inspired!😉
While we do eat meat, but we do so respectfully, Demeter organic quality small portions, and not necessarily every day. We also get our organic eggs and milk directly from the farm. We love using the slow cooker and air fryer for flavorful, healthy meals. If you enjoy cooking, now is the time to refine your skills and experiment with new recipes. We would love to add your new recipes to our collection!Algo más...

🏠 House Guidelines
You are, of course, also welcome to spend your free time in our house or garden. Please note that our home is a smoke-free environment, and we kindly ask guests to respect this rule, as we want to set a good example for our children.
To help maintain a peaceful atmosphere, we ask guests to limit technology use (phones/tablets) in the presence of the kids and to turn off sound notifications on devices. Watching movies or listening to music is totally fine—just in consultation regarding time and volume.
While we cannot lend out our cars, we are sometimes willing to drive you to nearby places when possible.Un poco más de información
