* Please note that we are mainly looking for girls/women [18y—35y] with some childcare experience to help us with the boys. We prefer a stay of at least 6 weeks.
Hello Ladies👋🏻,
How nice that you've found our page! We'd like to introduce ourselves briefly. We are a friendly and active family of five: a Swiss father, Chris, and a Dutch mother, Michelle, both 38 years old; two beautiful, very happy twin boys, Ayron and Aymon (6 years old); and our one-year-old baby girl, Ayleana. Completing our family are two friendly cats, Cairo and Sphinx🐾, who love receiving care and attention.
Our twin boys are cheerful, love learning and playing, and are generally very easy to handle. They enjoy educational quality moments like music, reading, math, or creative afternoons. While they still need some guidance for routines like going to school and bedtime, they are also quite capable of entertaining themselves.
Recently, the focus of our family life has shifted more towards our youngest, Ayla👶. While initially struggling with missing her mom, she has now grown to enjoy the fun and nurturing moments with her "work-away sisters." Ayla loves observing and even "helping" with tasks like cooking 😉 or participating in her brothers' activities. She is a curious and bright little girl, and much of the care and attention has naturally shifted to her.
Michelle loves creating a supportive and stimulating environment for all the kids and truly enjoys caring for them and watching them grow. While Chris works full-time, Michelle is at home, dedicating herself to completing her master's degree in Artificial Intelligence (Computer Science). Alongside her studies and being a mom, she is also in training to become a certified Wim Hof Method instructor, which adds another layer of focus and commitment to her daily routine. However, finding the necessary uninterrupted hours for studying and training remains challenging. This is why we seek help—to allow Michelle to balance being a present mom while dedicating the necessary time to academic and personal growth.
What we need help with:
We will work together on household chores and childcare. Most of your help will involve spending time with Ayla, looking after her needs, and contributing to the household through tasks like cooking, tidying, or organizing. You’ll also assist the boys with their routines and engage in meaningful, educational, quality time.
A learning opportunity
There is always plenty to do, so it’s important that you are motivated, able to multitask, and willing to take initiative. Your role here is about both helping and learning. Michelle will gladly guide you through the process of running a household with children, sharing insights into the typical tasks and responsibilities involved. We completely understand that, as a new family member, you won’t feel entirely at home right away, and that’s absolutely fine. What matters most is that you’re driven, eager to learn, and ready to be part of a mutual feedback cycle.
We value people who contribute with energy and positivity while also helping us maintain a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere in the house. Collaboration and teamwork are essential to us, and you’ll never be left alone with tasks or responsibilities—help is always just a question away. Open communication and the willingness to grow together are at the heart of our family dynamic, and we encourage you to ask questions and embrace this learning opportunity.
Community and family values
Our family is deeply centered around the idea of community. Helping one another and learning together is an important part of how we raise our children. The boys are already active participants in this approach, constantly learning new skills, helping around the house, and contributing to our shared family life. By joining us, you’ll be stepping into this community spirit, where everyone contributes to maintaining a warm, supportive, and enriching home environment.
Family languages
Due to the various nationalities in our household, English is often our common language. Social activities and conversations are important to us in fostering a sense of community, so it’s essential that you have a good level of conversational English. German can also be an option if the other Workawayer speaks German. Our children are being raised in four languages: English, Dutch, Swiss-German, and German. This can be quite challenging, so the languages they hear must be correct. Therefore, we require that you have one of these languages as your native language or at a similar level. Additionally, the language you use when speaking with our children should be your mother tongue.
The great outdoors
We value spending time outdoors as a family, whether playing in the garden, exploring waterfalls, walking in the woods, strolling by the river, or heading to the lake for an afternoon. Our children thrive in nature, and we encourage plenty of outdoor time whenever the weather allows. It is an essential part of our daily rhythm.
If you are interested, don’t hesitate to write to us! We’d love to chat more and tell you all about our family.
Please note: Just to avoid unnecessary disappointment, we need a fixed plane/train ticket to confirm your stay with us, and we let the Workaway team know about any late cancellations or changes to arrangements.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

Above all, we offer a lot of sociabilities. If you like watching TV, doing crafts, making music, or playing games, we are often happy to join you or keep you company. Via work and by traveling we both came in contact with many countries and cultures. We really enjoy meeting new people and talking about different nations, philosophies, and perspectives. But we just as much like to watch series or movies on Netflix and apple tv. If you are looking for a practice of (Swiss) German, Dutch, English we are certainly willing to chat with you in one of these languages.

Our primary concern is childcare. This means keeping an eye on things while Ayla and the boys are playing independently but also entertaining, singing, and doing fun games or exercises. Additionally, you will help to take care of the boys, such as getting dressed, helping them with their meals, going with them to the toilet, brushing their teeth, taking a bath, and preparing them for bed.
Along with childcare, you mainly help with domestic chores and cooking. You may indicate in advance where you’d like to put the emphasis. Some activities that need to be carried out in the house include preparing food, vacuuming, tidying up, cleaning, washing, and folding. You may also like to help maintain our vegetable garden if you have green fingers.
We eat together at the table inside or outside two times a day ( lunch and dinner). We like healthy and tasty food, especially lots of fruit and veggies.
Five years ago, we started with the Wahls protocol, which we try to keep as well as we can;) This means that we, ourselves, eat as much sugar-/ gluten-free and low carbs as possible. We dedicate a lot of time to cooking and preparing our ingredients. To our opinion, the tastiness of the food has not at all diminished.
That being said, we always store "normal" high carbs and sugary things in the house for our guests. We don't expect our guests to change their eating habits, though you might ;)
We also eat meat, but respectfully, in small portions and not necessarily the whole week. We love to use the slow cooker and air fryer for cooking. If you enjoy being in the kitchen, then we could cook together. We are very curious about the new recipes and techniques you can bring to our kitchen.
Do tell us also what your particular talents are. Maybe it's exactly that which we haven't been thinking of yet, but which we could really well use.Idiomas

**We recently moved to the region Luzern close to nature park Entlebuch! I still need time to update our profile page accordingly 🙈. Most details about how we live are pretty much comparable. We now live on a peach of land together with neighbors with a Demeter organic farm.
Our new house is a "Baubiologisch haus." That means that building is done considering how buildings affect the environment and the people in them. For example, they ensure that no harmful substances are used in a house or enough fresh air gets in. It has a "Pflanzenkläranlage," a unique waste water system that plants filter and is environmentally friendly.
We live in a large house surrounded by gardens and meadows between the mountain Pilatus and UNESCO nature park Entlbuch. The house has many rooms so there is always a place where you can sit in silence for reading a book or working.
We participate in a vegetable garden project that prioritizes organic farming practices of Demeter quality. The farm where we live has a spacious greenhouse and plots of land where we grow our vegetables. We carefully select the veggies needed for the food we cook here every week and eat from our own garden as far as supplies go.
During your stay with us, you have access to a guest room with a view of the mountains and a patio. You share a big 25 m guest room with our other guest. The guest room has two beds separated by a closet wall and several pieces of furniture so that besides spending the night when you feel like it, you can also be on your own. The bathroom, kitchen, living room, and terrace are shared with us. If you are a musician, you are welcome to use our music corner as well.
Our cats are both outside and inside. They are allowed only certain parts of the house.
As mentioned before, we eat three times a day. Our habit is to eat a healthy smoothie in the morning, a warm meal over lunch, and a salad dish with crackers in the evening. If you like to eat something else, this is absolutely fine, but we ask you to prepare that yourself.Algo más...
The area here in Switzerland in Luzern, close to "Entlebuch" is to our belief the biggest selling point. We will be happy to help you find, select and plan exciting trips in the area for when you are at ours. Together we could develop an initial plan before you travel, so you can make the most out of your free time here in one of the most beautiful areas of Switzerland and don't have to miss a thing!
Our surroundings are especially interesting for people who love to explore nature. We are surrounded by hundreds of kilometers of well-developed hiking and biking trails. When it's hot, there is a small river in the forest just under our house where you can cool down. You could go climbing in the area, or rent a canoe. For those who like to take it easy, there are just as well possibilities for drawing & painting, a picnic or to look for beautiful stones.
There's a bus station 15 minutes from our house. This bus goes every half hour and takes you to the center of Wolhusen from here you can, for example, take a train to another location.
In your free time you are of course also welcome to enjoy yourself in our house or in the garden. Our house and garden are a smoke-free environment, and we expect our guests to adhere to this too. We think it is very important to be a good example for our children, so we do not want smokers in their environment, and it is very important that playing with technology such as mobile phones and tablets in their presence is limited. We, therefore, ask you to turn off the sound of devices in our house. Listening to music and watching movies can, of course, be done in consultation about suitable times and volumes.
Under no circumstances can we lend out our cars. However, we are willing to chauffeur you from time to time.Un poco más de información
