  We live at a small eco village tucked between spectacular indigenous forest and the beach — both an easy walk from our door. It's a wild, barefoot kind of place, and we love sharing it with people who want to slow down, get their hands dirty, and be part of a community that's building something a little different.
  
  Our family is a lively one — three kids keep us on our toes, and there's always something happening, whether it's a project on the go, a swim after work, or someone building a fort in the forest. They attend a self directed learning centre here in The Crags. We're an English-speaking household..
  
  There's also a dam right here that you can swim in, regular yoga classes, and the occasional group meditatios happening.
  
  What we love most about this place is simple: forest on one side, ocean on the other, good people around us, and kids growing up wild and free. We think Workawayers who come here fall in love with it fast — the pace, the nature, the sense of being somewhere real.

  There's plenty to soak up: local food, the rhythms of eco-village life, and the way a small, tight-knit community here pulls together on shared land and shared projects.
  
  Our boys are self-directed unschoolers, so you'll see a different side of family life too — no classroom, no fixed curriculum, just kids learning through curiosity, play, and the world around them. It's a bit of an exchange in itself for a lot of Workawayers, seeing what that looks like day to day.
  
  You'll get to know our boys, our routines, and the practical, hands-on way of life that comes with living somewhere this close to nature — no shortcuts, plenty of real work, and a lot of learning by doing. In turn, we love hearing about where our Workawayers come from — their food, their language, their way of seeing things.we will cook together, eat together, and swap stories along the way.
  
  If you're curious about eco-village living, unschooling, community land projects, or just want to properly experience family life in a wild corner of South Africa, you'll find plenty to exchange here.

  Ayuda

  We're looking for around 4–5 hours of help a day, mostly in the afternoons running into dinner time. Tasks would include helping with cooking and cleaning, and lending a hand with the kids — playing, keeping an eye on them, general chaos-wrangling with a 1, 7 and 9 year old in the house. It's hands-on, family-based work, and a nice way to properly settle into daily life here rather than just passing through.

  You'll have your own private room with a double bed and wardrobe. There's a downstairs bathroom with a shower, just off the lounge, which is yours to use. Our family's bedrooms are upstairs, so from around 7pm you'll have the whole downstairs living space to yourself in the evenings. Mornings are yours too — completely free time to do as you please before the afternoon's help begins.
  
  Food
  
  All food is included. We eat plenty of fresh greens from the garden, along with meat, and we do our best to keep meals healthy and nutritious. Breakfast is typically oats, lunch is often eggs with something on the side, and dinners rotate through things like chicken, beef, spaghetti bolognaise, and roast chicken with veg. We're always happy to cook to your preferences — if there's a favourite meal of yours that the kids are likely to enjoy too, we'd love your input in the kitchen and are happy to cook it together.

  Free Time & Getting Around
  
  Living in a community means there's usually someone heading into town on any given day, so if you want to explore Plettenberg Bay, you'll likely be able to grab a lift — we also head to town a few times a week ourselves, and you're welcome to tag along.
  
  Right from our house you can walk straight into the forest, or all the way down to the beach. Natures Valley beach is also just a short drive away, and since people from the community are often heading that way too, lifts are easy to come by. Beyond that, there's a lot to explore locally — plenty of hiking trails in the area, yoga happening a couple of times a week within the community, and other workshops on offer from time to time. There's also a nearby spa with a hot tub and sauna if you feel like treating yourself.
  
  The eco village borders indigenous forest, and it's a genuinely stunning, tranquil place to spend a few weeks — there's plenty to do, but also plenty of space to just slow down and enjoy where you are.

  You can use our WIFI. I also work online in the mornings. The house is quiet then when the kids are at the Self Directed Learning Centre.
