It’s difficult to start writing about this family because a lot of emotions come out. With them, I discovered four incredible people, each with their differences, and yet all connected. I discovered a family different from mine. Oh, and I learned a lot, but the most important thing that I learned was about the love that they have, and when I start
… read more to write about this a lot of images come to mind in this short time of 4 months together, a father and a mother that have an unwavering love for their kids, a love that goes beyond differences. A love wants only the best for them and at the same time gives them freedom to fly, a love that is always there, no matter what, they will always be there with a comfortable hug. They are very respectful with the space that everyone needs, and open to talk about anything.
Giulio is very precise with everything, how I wish I had your precision. He teaches me this, how to plan something better, try to understand all the different possibilities. He is a heroic dad, a lovely husband, and an incredible friend. While I didn’t learn to be like you, your lessons still continue with me.
Giorgia, she can touch your heart with her words, very wise. Her words can comfort and always make you look at a situation in a different way. Also, she can always make her environment very funny, she teaches me that sometimes the world has some surprises, but we just need to look at it with a different point of view.
And what can I say about the kids? Well, they are very different from each other, different personalities. Thea is discovering the world, and she is very brave while she does, she has courage, so she’s small but she feels so tall. She teaches me that sometimes we just need to play, life can be easier if we enjoy doing more of the things that we love.
Zeno is an explorer too, but he decides to go beyond Thea and explore more of a fantasy world, he is very smart. He is so sensitive and there is a huge lesson that he has taught me more about: Empathy. Empathy to feel what the other person feels in a deeper way, if you aren’t having a good day and just see his smile and see him dance, you feel his happiness, he has this quality. He can connect to others and just show the power of Empathy.
This trip for me in Italy had a lot of intense moments, life is made of connections that we are creating in our journey and I’m proud to have met this family, my Italian family. Love all of you and I hope that we will have a lot of moments together. All of you are in my heart. Thank for opening your house and your hearts as you welcomed me.
I have one word that can describe what I feel when I think about it all, one word that reveals all the stories, one word that shows the intensity of the relationship, a word that can be a time machine and take you back to the past, a special word that is more than just a word: SAUDADE!Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

It was my first time making a big journey and I am very lucky to meet with this great family. Giorgia is an amazing cheerful lady and I wish we got more time to have a chat together. They are amazing hosts, I remember when I told Giorgia I wanted to try Spritz and they took me to aperitivo right next day. Giulio showed me Padua and other places,

Padua is a cute city that have great bike lanes, shops and the best mint gelato ever!. Their home is in a nice and calm neighbourhood, they make great Italian food and have a nice room for workawayers.
The kids are very nice and they have their unique ways of enjoying life. Thea is a really cool toddler, I can still hear her shouting “il luppo”. When I was there, Giulio’s mom was taking after Thea mostly so I mainly helped her with the stroller as well as playing balloons and my little pony with Thea. Zeno was my little Italian teacher and my friend, and his magic word is “disegnare” which is drawing. He is very good at drawing (better than me) and loves painting Pokemons. I suggest to learn some Italian before you come so you can be good friends with him. Unfortunately, he was a little mad at me the last day when he wanted a scissor but I didn’t understand and kept talking about pens ...
I also got to meet Giulio’s parents as well and they were like my hosts too! All my regards to Barbara and Ezio. It’s really hard to like any wine and parmesan after tasting theirs ;(
Now that I think about my workaway experience, I really miss my time in Italy and I can only say “I’m glad I did it!” Ciao ciao!Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

Derek and Taylor have been our first workaway experience and we couldn't be more luckier than that.
The amazing things happened during the three weeks we spent together are so many, that it's hard to pick up one.
Although our kids can't speak English Derek and Taylor always found a great way to communicate with them. They are so helpful and
… read more trustful that we were always happy to now the kids were with them while we were at work.
Moreover they are very respectful and so living with them has been super easy and nice. They have been great friends for us and we loved having them around.
The kids ask about them every day since day left.
Workaway gave us the opportunity to have a little piece of world in our home.
We are super fans of Derek and Taylor's trip around Europe and we hope to have a chance to meet them again before they will fly home.

From the instant we met Giulio, Giorgia, and their two adorable kids, Zeno and Thea, we knew we’d found our Italian family away from home. They welcomed us into their family with open arms and provided a comfortable room and amazing food. Let me say that again, AMAZING food. Thea and Zeno were so much fun to play with. Most of our time "working"
… read more was spent drawing, playing games and hanging out in the park with them. Also, it’s good to note that while Giulio speaks excellent English, the kids only speak Italian, so it’s definitely a good idea to learn a few words in Italian before coming. The most important word? Gelato.
In the evenings, we always had the option to go out on our own or spend dinnertime with the family. We almost always chose the latter due to the aforementioned great company and food. While we were staying with them, we were invited to participate in get-togethers with their friends, which included attending a barbeque and watching the Star Wars movie, Rouge One (with English subtitles for us, haha). We were also given bikes to use during our time off, which were super useful because downtown Padova is only a short bike ride away and it’s a really cool area to explore with excellent restaurants that Giulio is happy to recommend. Venice is also a short 30-minute train ride away.
We can’t say enough good things about Giorgia and Giulio and their kids. We will never forget our new friends in Padova and will forever cherish our time spent talking around the dinner table with a glass of wine in hand and Bowie playing in the background.
