Hello,
My name is Sacha and me and my hubby Ben and 2 children ( Rafael aged 4.5 and Angelina aged 2.5) live on the gorgeous Greek Island of Corfu.
We are presently looking for kind, playful, easy going helpers- ideally a couple or friends who love to be together who can hang out with our little ones while we try and do some work and possibly one more handy who might enjoy to help Ben with Renovation :)
We are looking for help this September, October, November and December and we are open to spring next year.
OUR FAMILY
I teach yoga, and singing and hold holistic healing spaces for women and mothers
Ben is a boat builder by trade- he is super creative and can build, fix or make just about anything
We have 2 adult dogs (one Collie- one mongrel sausage!)
Our 4.5 year-old son -Rafael is very bright and very funny, he loves dinosaurs, drawing and creative games.
Our 2.5 year old daughter -Angelina loves anything her brother is doing! She also loves puzzles, and being read books. She already speaks well and both children are very funny and love to chat.
OUR VILLAGE AND LOCAL AREA
Corfu is famous for its incredible beaches, breath-taking views of mountains and olive groves, chilled out lifestyle, fun, friendly locals and yummy Mediterranean food. We live in on the edge of a traditional village (Avliotes) so within 15 mins walk of our house are a few local shops, a taverna, a bakery, post office, a pharmacy, a gift shop and a restaurant, as well as several traditional churches.
For nature lovers our home is on the main road up to the village but it is surrounded by fields and wild rambling olive grove walks, within a few mintues of hiking you can see the sea in the distance and it is possible to walk along the road to 2 beaches within around 30 minutes- as well as an amazing sunset bar open in the summer.
Close to us is the seaside resort of Arillas- which has become a very buzzing alternative, yoga and holistic event scene (around 6kms from our place). In the summer there are many amazing festivals, healers, teachers, musicians and artists who reside here and visit here each year. Even in winter there are weekly holistic events like intuitive singing, Kung Fu and meditation there are events almost everyday. Our corner of the island is a lovely place to experience Greek culture and also many alternative hippy, mind, body, spirit expanding experiences. (But you may wish to hire a scooter or an ebike to have freer movement around arillas and other local areas as local public transport is very limited and we can offer only limited rides according to our schedule to our workaways)
YOUR ACCOMMODATION
You will stay in one of our lovely caravans- they have their own courtyard garden next to our home. You will have an outdoor kitchen, an outdoor shady area, lots of sun on hot days, and a comfy bed and storage area suitable for up to 2 people inside your caravan. You have running water, a solar shower and electricity all connected and when you need to do laundry or in winter you are welcome to use our machine or shower in the house.
HOW YOU CAN HELP US
We can always use help! Easy going people with a can do attitude are the best :)
We very much need support babysitting one or both of the children. The kids are generally happy and fun to be around, they both speak English and some Greek.
One of us will nearly always be nearby on the property while the children are being cared for- but we would love to find a person (or two) who love children, love to play, to dig in the garden, sing, dance, read books, do puzzles, draw and generaly watch over, care for and play with one or both our kids while we try to work for 4 hours a day. We are looking for people who want to spend at least 4 weeks with us- if we like each other then it could even be something that lasts for several months, for us the longer you would like the better if we all get along
The kids love playful people who are happy to talk to them, play with them, help them do painting and drawing, or just playing in the garden digging in the mud, looking at insects or swinging in the hammocks, if you are interested in forest schooling or kids nature crafts this is a bonus :) And if you speak Greek we are even happier to have you!
The babysitting is the main thing we need but it is also possible that we might have to travel, in which case you would have the house to yourself and your job would be to walk and feed our 2 dogs and housesit for us.
Also tidying up after the kids while you play or doing simple things like hanging laundry or loading the dishwasher are needed everyday. Your general focus will be just to be with the children, but every day is different so if you are open to be flexible and don't mind taking care of some everyday household tasks during your hours it is very much appreciated :)
We also have some renovations on the house and gardens that could use an extra pair of handy hands- in the case that it is a couple and one of you is great with kids and one of you prefers to work with your hands there is plenty of opportunity to support and learn from Ben as he renovates and redecorates the house and gardens. He has decades of experience as a builder and general handyman and often needs an extra pair of hands... but the babysitting is the priority :)
Also we love sharing healthy vegetarian food and workaways who are good cooks have been godsends to us!
THIS IS A GOOD FIT FOR YOU IF....
1.You are very self-sufficient and happy to spend lots of time alone.
-We actually love to play games and share time with our workaways, but we also need time alone as individualas and as a family and this is very hard somedays! We often don't have alot of free time to hang out so you must be really happy in your own space and company as some days you wont see much of us at all outside of the hours you volunteer :)
2. You would like to practice English. We are all native English speakers here. We will need to be able to communicate with you so if your English is very basic this wont be for you. But if you are intermediate and you want an opportunity to improve and immerse yourself in English then this could be great for you.
2. You are happy to stay in a caravan.
Your accommodation will a very sweet, well maintanted caravan, in its own little courtyard with sunny and shady area,
outdoor kitchen, composting toilet and solar shower. the caravan is on a plot next to our house- it is accessible by its own gate and this whole little courtyard will be your own private space and home while you stay with us. If the above souunds too rustic for you then this isnt the right position for you.
3. You love kids- this kind of goes without saying, but it is really important that you enjoy being with the little ones as it really wont work otherwise.
4. You are happy to walk. We have all the shops, beaches and amenities within 30 minutes walk mentioned above. And arillas is around 1 hour walk away. We only have one car in our family so we wont be able to drive you around very often. You need to be happy to walk, or borrow our bike cycle or hire your own scooter or ebike if you stay with us as we wont be able to give you rides and the local buses aren't particularly helpful (unless you want to visit Corfu Town).
5. You are open minded and pretty easy going. If you consider yourself to be highly sensative or feel emotionallly vulnerable at the moment then our hearts go out to you- but we probably wont be the right place for you right now. We are a pretty fun, loud, busy family.
6. You are happy to have an international background check. Because this position involves our children we will pay to have a comprehensive check. If you have a criminal record that includes violence, or abuse then you shouldn't apply for this role.
7. You don't mind a bit of weather! In general there are many warm sunny days here in our corner of the Mediterranean but in the summer it can get extremely hot and in the autumn and winter it can be a mix of mild/ sunny days, and big rainy thunderstorm days. Check the weather for your dates, pack accordingly and be ready for an adventure. We tend to make our own fun when the weather is rainy and head to the beach whenever the sun shines :)
Added bonus:
Since Sacha is a yoga teacher if it is possible you will be invited as our guest to things she is doing during your stay. And if we can take you on any days out locally or further afield we would love to do this.
If we have space in the car we will always offer you a ride to where we are going if you arent working
We love games and fun activities and getting together with the interesting people who come into our llives. We would be very happy to get together with you at least once a week to share some food, some games (we have many), some stories or some songs.
If this sounds like something you would enjoy we would LOVE to hear from you.
Many thanks,

While our culture in the house is very much about yoga, art and meditation. Village life gives you a real taste of traditional Greek life. You can hear the cockerels crow in the morning, little Greek ladies laughing and talking and all the village locals are friendly and interested in meeting new people. The local food here is amazing, and the landscape is out of this world beautiful. And for those who really want a taste of Greek tradition you can even head to a beautiful church in the village that hosts weekly orthodox services.
There are lots of holistic events and sessions taking place in the Arillas local community- ranging from singing to dance, to painting and kung fu and things are usually offered on donation for those who are interested.
The cultural climate on the island is very laid back- things happen when they happen and when the sun shines you head to the beach.
Me and Ben are both native English speakers so we can help you with pronunciation and practice (also our son can help with this!)
The children are also wonderful teachers- they inspire us and make us look at things differently every day.Proyectos con niños
