I sail, live and work on a classic British sailboat. It's my home and my office. And it sails to amazing locations. Now after crossing the Atlantic and island hoping in the SE Caribbean during the past years, I took her to a shipyard in the amazing small island of Carriacou, for some maintenance and improvements work, as boats like to be taken care of so they can take care of us. I also took some time off and in May 2022 I'll be back on the island and get to work. Completing boat tasks is probably the most satisfying work ever. Learning & teaching also give me great joy to me. Once back in the water I will be sailing: there are several options and they will be decided upon once time comes. The Workaway setup/deal is valid while the boat is in the yard. If you wish to join the boat as crew for sailing, it's possible yet on a shared expenses setup. This is a simple, strong, safe and comfortable British built boat. My sailing style is low budget, high energy and conservative.

Boat work: fiberglass & epoxy work on the hull, scraping & painting, replacing standing rigging, installing mast steps, seacock maintenance, plumbing, stitching and probably more. The materials and tools you'll be working with are usually simple. Learning and teaching is constant and very pleasurable. The work requires good planing, understanding of boat systems and logic (which is a bit different than land logic), and mainly stamina, positivity, energy and love of working with your hands. Work could be noisy and messy at times. The tropics are hot. You will be sweating but the water on the beach is amazing. We swim all the time.

Sailboat cabin. There are two private cabins on the boat. The volunteer will get their own cabin and it's private. Food will be purchased by myself and is my expense. I eat fresh, simple, healthy, tasty food and avoid junk food and processed food for both cost and personal preferences. Cooking and cleaning will be done voluntarily by either myself or the volunteer, as we decide. One of us will prepare the food and the other will clean after the meal. While in the yard, we shower and use the common facilities of the yard, not the boat's facilities. I swim 2-3 times daily in the sea to keep fresh. We are also a 12 volt boat, meaning that 220 volt devices can be charged and worked on when the sun is up and shining (or when the yard's 220V is connected to the boat) - we are energy independent with two large solar panels. In general you are expected to treat the boat as if it is your own - lots of love, care and attention.

I am a digital nomad myself. I have a Martinique SIM that gives 40 GB/month (avoid AV streaming, heavy DL/UL and it's more than enough). It works on multiple island nations in the Carib. The boatyard, bars and restaurants on the island have wifi but I rather use my cell. You can get your own local SIM for cellular data as well.
