If you wish to go out of town to North or South, a public bus station is only 3 to 4 minutes walk distance from where you stay. I also have bicycles you can use.
During the weekend you can take a bus to Lund - the northern part of Powell River and also the end of high way 101 from South America. It has the famous Nancy's restaurant and other restaurants, a gallery, and a harbour. The water taxi runs regularly to the well known Savary Island. You can rent a kayak to the Copland Islands, and Desolation Sound.
Or you can take a ferry ( 5 minutes walk to the ferry from where you stay) to Vancouver Island. While crossing the ocean you may see Humpback or Killer whales swim by.
If you are here at the end of Summer or Fall, you can watch salmon running up the creek at the the Salmon Hatchery which is located about 15 minutes drive away. And you may see black bears catching salmons in the creek.
There are many lakes, forest trails nearby you can explore. The most famous "Sunshine Coast Trail", From start to the end hike will take about 10 days, huts are available along the trails, free of charge.
Public beaches on the ocean are spread from North to south of town, the nearest one is in town, which is located about 15 to 20minutes walk from my property.
If you are a rock climber, we have at least couple places you can go.
There are good cafes and restaurants near where I live, all in short walking distance. evening walk along the SEA WALK you might see whale swim by, The sea in front of the SEA WALK is framed on the left by Texada Island, on the right by Hardwood Island, and far off on the West is Vancouver Island. The sea is calm like a mirror unless weather is stormy, which is seldom.
You will meet friendly local walking their dog or just walk out for seeing the sunset. There are benched along the path.
I encourage you to ask me as many questions as you may have.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
