I am building up a nature - culture - health farm. Will you help me? Experience Finnskogen! Wander through peaceful, enchanteted forest, on and of the paths, with or without a guide. You get a private room sleeping. The farm has many animals: Chicken, rabbits, sheep, goats, pigs in outside pens with their own little sleeping quarters, and bees. You can pick your own fruit, berries and vegetables and eat meats produced on the farm and cook yourself.
I, Merete Furuberg, run a farm and forest property together with a Slovakian Family that lives on the farm since seven years ago. I offer full Norwegian payment for all the forest work: planting, precommercial thinning, cleaning, harvesting. Some of the farm work is just for household and no selling. For this work I offer free food and free accomodation. Help in the farm and in the forest is depending of the season. I agree with the workawayers before coming to me.

You will learn abour Norwegian culture in addition to forestry and agriculture. I have a PhD in forest engineering amd has worked in a university for 30 years. I am able to teach you. You will be able to take part in the local life.
Guided tours of Finnskogen and the local attractions are available. The nearby river Rotna offers great paddling during the spring and summer. Canoes, kayaks and row boats are available, the latter for use on the lake Helgen, 10 min. walk from the farm. Fishing and hunting can be arranged. In the winter there is a great hill for sledding on the farm and a simple track right out from the front door. For more advanced cross country skiing, you will find miles of beautifully prepared tracks at Mattila ski center, about a 20 min drive from the farm. Transportation can be arranged. The landscape varies from dense fir forests and open meadows around abandoned farms, to peaks where you can see for miles in the clean air. Finnskogen is great for bicycling, both on and off road. The forest is crisscrossed with trails, many marked, many not.

I need help in all kind of farm chores and/or chores in the forest. You will get different type of tasks depending of your own skills.

You will have Your own single room, but sometimes share shower and bathroom. If you want you are welcome to prepare Your own Food or you are welcome to eat together With me.
Many Young People from different countries have stayed at my farm. Many of them are coming back.
