    Hello Workawayers!

I am Adina, soon 58, and I share a big former guest house with cats Couscous, Vishna, Triss, Kise and Mysan. At this time there is also a construction crew of 3-5 people working on renovating the roof, starting at 7 am on weekdays.

You will have your own bedroom that you will help prepare, and share shower and toilets. Local bus is 300 meter walk from here, that will take you to the local and regional trains.

Looking forward to hearing from you - always exciting to discover who is out there!

    Kind regards,
    Adina

More below about the house and the area

    ________________________________________

In 2018 I moved into a former guest house built in 1911 with quite a bit of local history, with the intention of creating a community living together with the common interest of meditation.

We are based in Stockamöllan, in the middle of the province Skåne, with 300 inhabitants and a village known for its beauty and history. The house is located between Rönne å river and road 13, a major throughroad. When outside you have the waterfall close by as a constant soundtrack, and depending on where you are in the garden and what time of day/night it is, you may be aware of traffic sound. For me personally the traffic sound fades into the background and I only notice it if someone's driving unusually fast, or if it's heavy farming equipment passing by. I've also noticed the sound can actually be a meditation help rather than hindrance, when opening up my attention wider.

Stockamöllan has a canoe rental place and a handful of cute shops, one with fika and two with ice cream. For food shopping, you need to travel 10-20 minutes by car or bus.

This is an area of Skåne that has quite a few alternative people, creatives, yoga instructors, musicians, permaculturists etc. There is an unusually active village association that arranges about one social activity per month, everything from Walpurgis Eve bonfire, Midsummer gathering, to Christmas market, October Fest and a popular Halloween event, that draws several hundreds of visitors this year. The local hiking and biking treks start right outside the gate and the national park Söderåsen is only 15 minutes away with beautiful and mystical Oden Lake.

Living in this house with its history and a village that has a good community sense I have found quite enjoyable. Located by the local "Square", it has a bit of a village pulse as people park to go hiking or canoeing or visiting the few quaint shops. Going to the cities (Malmö, Lund and Copenhagen) is quite doable, and yet living here encourages taking more initiatives and being part of initiatives in the village. All the closest neighbors are involved with some or other creative pursuits, like design, music and photography, most of them have an interest in organic gardening and some in meditation, and the atmosphere is friendly and helpful.

It's unusual to have so much wildlife central in a village, this thanks to Rönne å with birds, bats, fish, and insects. Heron is a common sight. I've spent quite a bit of time creating an insect-friendly and sustainable garden, adding edibles and nectar plants, an herb section, hügelbeds, and keyhole compost, using biochar and bokashi. My neighbor keeps some of her bees in this garden.

I'm in the process of taking better care of myself and for support on this healing journey I am looking for a kind-hearted, flexible and experienced volunteer, good with instructions and willing to give and receive feedback, to be my hands, feet and energy as I recover from back pain, fatigue and onset diabetes.

This could mean taking care of the cats, cleaning inside the house, picking up small debris outside from the roof construction, laundry, food-shopping, cooking vegetarian food, and gardening and preparing. Once the basics are taking care of, there is usually some small creative projects also going on.

Depending on my energy levels and healing needs, I may be resting, listening to a yoga nidra guidance or doing inquiry while you are doing chores, or I may join you. Usually I am more alert during the first part of the day and we may have a flexible set-up with a couple of hours before lunch and a couple in the afternoon with rest/free time in between. This is a good time to be here as I think it's the most beautiful part of the year.

Good if you have a driver's license with ample driving experience, excellent if you're into meditation, mindfulness, personal growth, healing, prayer, church and the like as we are, and 10 out of 10 if you're familiar with The Work of Byron Katie and able to facilitate inquiry!

Please, no "cold calls"/generic replies as I will put my energy into responding only to those who have clearly read this text and are interested in this particular volunteering position.
