Welcome to our Foundation!
Where is our foundation about?
We're a (Dutch and Ghanian registered) NGO working in Ghana, where we're working with several local partners (organizations) Our focus is on healthcare, mainly related to mother & childcare.
The foundation is managed by Albertine (Dutch nurse specialized in mother & child care and IBCLC lactation consultant) and Kate (a Ghanian midwife and anesthetist), both staying in Accra, Ghana.
What are we doing?
One of our projects is an outreach program for health education about Safe Motherhood.
Topics discussed are Safe Birth, Prevent Mother to Child Transmission, Family planning, HIV & TB, Malaria and Nutrition.
We're also offering clinical attachments for foreign nursing and midwifery students within hospitals, an HIV clinic, and maternity homes. Within these institutions, we're introducing low-cost interventions like Kangaroo Mother Care and Developmental Care. Also breastfeeding is one of our spear points.
Where are we looking for?
A helping hand to update our website and social media profiles, ideally with nice pictures and videos of our projects.
So if you're creative and willing to join us in the field to collect these pictures and videos, able to edit them and develop our online visibility. Also for our outreach program, we would like to use our own pictures or drawings for the poster presentations where we could use a creative mind for.
A helping hand in local and online fundraising is most welcome.
If you have any experience with that, please come and share it!
You have to be willing to travel within Ghana since we work in the Greater-Accra, Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo region.
When do we need your help?
Throughout the year.
What can we offer?
We'll host you in our hostel we're you'll share the room with maximum of 1 other workawayer.
It's a 4-bedroom house on a gated compound.
The room will be fully furnished and gas/water/electricity is provided.
If you want to come with someone, it won't be any problem.
Ideally, you're available to work roughly 15 - 20 hours a week and the rest will be free time
to explore the city and country.
If you would like to join our outreach program and be part of the health education team,
that also will be possible of course.

First of all, travelers will benefit from a cultural exchange by knowing and learning about Ghana.
We're ready to introduce you to the Ghanian culture and its habits, especially when it comes to healthcare since that's the field you will explore most during your work. You will see the differences in the way of living and start realizing what your values are. Apart from that you'll make new friends and continued connections to the country.
We would like to learn from you some skills related to online visibility and fundraising.
If you want to explore mother & childcare in Africa - you're at the right place!
Ideally, we're learning from each other - that is what we believe - together we can do more.
Help to get videos and pictures from our partner organizations and projects we're doing for our website and social media platforms.
Besides that, we do have poster presentations for our outreach programs which we would like to update with our own pictures and or drawings. A creative mind for that is also most welcome!
Last but not least, if you have experience with fundraising we really appreciate getting us started with that too.

A room in a 5-bedroom house which is in use as a hostel. Shared bathroom.
You'll have access to the general services provided in the hostel like the use of the kitchen, dining, hall, and garden. Gas/water/electricity will be provided.
Since you will stay independently food isn't included.
The house is centrally located in town. It's a minute walk to the main road to join public transport.
A bus station with wide access to town and outside town is about 10 mins from the house.
Uber/Bolt is also available in Accra. During free time you can visit the beach or have a drink or meal at one of the many nice spots in and around Accra. There are very active salsa and kizomba communities in town.
With public transport, the Southern part of Ghana is easily accessible and it's safe to travel on your own by daylight.
For trips to the Northern part, we advise you to travel with a recognized company (we do have connections for that).
Since the house is on a compound we don't allow loud music and parties.
Also is the place non-smoking. When you walk outside, please take notice to be dressed properly to respect the culture. (no shorts or skirts above the knee). To wear this at home or at the beach isn't a problem of course.
