Descripción
We own a beautiful property in rural Italy, in a remote, natural part of the south of Tuscany. The area is known for Etruscan history, natural hot springs, mountains, horse riding, hiking, mountain-biking and its beautiful serenity.
In the midst of this paradise, we own a 2ha farmstead. As romantic as this sounds (and is), it's also a lot of work!
Thomas is a Dutchman who is a self-taught carpenter and gardener. Ex hospitality veteran and business owner, these days he spends his working hours fixing things around the house, building new furniture or outdoor areas, setting up the food-garden and exploring alternative ways of living. He's interested in regeneration, permaculture, community living, culinary arts and music. This year he's hosting his first retreats (sailing, Qi Gong, mushrooms) and he's always keen to share his knowledge.
Waleria is of Russian/Ukrainian origin, grew up in Berlin. Her work in social sustainability took her on many travels around the world. She now works as a remote consultant for human rights and a researcher, focused on the energy transition and international supply chains. Waleria is an enthusiastic dancer of Tango Argentino with a passion for all things movement: Ashtanga-yoga, pilates, Gyrotonics. She loves photography, good food, holistic health, meditation and deep talks around a cup of tea.
We both became parents very recently to our very sweet baby Boris, who is at the date of writing almost 2 years old.
We are both non-drinkers, and we live healthy. For us that means working out, getting up early, eating organic and natural food (we are not vegetarians though), meditating daily, laughing and joking, chilling and working passionately. We love a good party now and then, enjoy chilling by the fire and cook lavish meals for friends.

Objetivos de sostenibilidad de las NU que intenta conseguir este anfitrión

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje
We are in central Tuscany, in a part that is older and less popular then the Tuscany you see in the standard post-card pictures. Although the land around is beautiful and rural, there aren't as many touristic things to do here as you might expect from Tuscany. The area is rural, full of wildlife, clean air, rivers, olive trees, hot springs, Etruscan history and more. The biggest cultural exchange you will have, will be the one with nature.

Ayuda
We are a young family living on a small farmstead in rural Tuscany, and our days are full of many different things.
We are looking for someone who enjoys being part of family life and can support us in different ways depending on your interests and skills:
House & cooking: giving us a hand in the kitchen, sharing family meals, keeping common spaces tidy.
Garden & outdoors: planting, weeding, and looking after our vegetable and herb garden.
DIY & creative projects: light painting, fixing furniture, decorating, and generally helping us make our home more welcoming.
The exact mix of tasks depends on the season, your preferences, and what is happening in our family at the time. We value people who are proactive, flexible, and happy to jump in where needed.

We would love to learn better Italian and in exchange we can teach you some English, German, Russian or Dutch.
Alojamiento
We have several options for accommodation. There is always one room reserved for volunteers, which you might have to share with others.
Alternatively, in our glamping tent, fully equipped with beds and an outdoor toilet. Another is to stay in our mobile home. If there is space, you can stay in our house in a private room but whenever our family or friends visits (which can be often) you will need to make space for them. In summer, you can also decide to put up a hammock or tent and sleep in the forest, which we highly recommend doing at least once!
Downstairs we have a living room, Walerias office and a fully equipped kitchen where we can cook our meals.
Algo más...
There is no local transport, so you will either have to rely on us for transportation, or borrow one of our bicycles to go your own way. The closest village with a restaurant is 3 min away by car. A village with shops and the breathwork retreat centre is 8 km away (uphill). Recommended is bringing your own means of transport, but if that's not an option, we are happy to discuss this with you.
