Sandy spent a lovely few days with us just after Xmas.. and was very helpful with some long overdue gardening care.. and she also helped me get the painting started on the outside of our house.. just finished it Sandy.. had a spell of great weather.. a change for the West Coast.. Come back and see us again sometime.

Having Judith to stay.. and help us with our reno work was an absolute pleasure.. Apart from her painting skills.. which were pretty good, very tidy, very careful... having her around was a delight..
She is a warm, caring and respectful girl, was very enthusiastic about any task we set for her and was always keen to help around the house with

And she bakes great bread.. :-) If you get a chance to host Judith.. take it..

My stay with Stephen and Nicole was great. They are very charming people and really interesting to speak, each of them in really different domains.
Nicole's cooking is amazing (i love asian food) and Stephen will always something nice to do for work in the morning or for fun in the afternoon.

They have bikes, a kayak and hokitika is only 5km so there is many things to enjoy

Apart from the fact that it was a pleasure to host Samuel.. he is an amazing worker... I left him in the back yard to work on a very overgrown hedge on our property boundary.. and by the end of the day I think we had gained an extra few hundred Sq metres of land.. and a few cool punga trees that had been strangled by the overgrowth..

We also got to experience his building skill.. and he did a great job.. he is that great helper who you can leave alone and know he will keep working hard even if you are not there to supervise him..

It was a pleasure to have Fabrizio & Harmonie stay with us for a week. They were great company, easy to have a round the place and they helped us with a few projects in the house and outside around the garden..
It was lovely to spend time with them and I would recommend them to any hosts.. although I'm not sure maths is Fabrizio's strong point..
… read more Ha ha. I'm a bit confused how an 8:30 - 8:45 start, a morning smoko break, and 1 o'clock lunch left time for the 5 hours of "work". We are happy with 4 hrs :-)

It's been a great pleasure for us to stay at Stephen and Nicole's! We loved listening to Stephen's adventures around the world or to his funny jokes, as well as Nicole's yummy meals!! They are very positive, friendly, warm and open-minded people, very easy to get along with. They also invited us to the New Coasters dumpling night where we tasted
… read more delicious dumplings from different countries.
They hosted us in their amazing VIP bus in exchange of 5 hours of morning work. We mostly did some sanding and painting and a couple of mornings in the garden.
From Hokitika is easy to reach the main attractions of the region: Hokitika Gorge, Greymouth, Arthur's Pass and Castle Hill, the Glaciers and so on.
Thank you for being such great hosts! We'll definitely recommend you to every Workawayer!
We hope to see you again one day in Europe!

It was an absolute pleasure to have hosted Aurore & Pierre.
They stayed with us for about a week and during that time completed some great projects.. Aurore did lots of painting inside as well as helping Pierre with some of the gardening projects.
Pierre helped to create a new pathway through our garden with river stones.. and also turned an
… read more old, inefficient open drain into a nice pebble (and plastic) lined creek that now works much more efficiently..
They used their own initiative and often worked well past the hours we expect of our guests just to complete a task. We would highly recommend them to any hosts.

P.S. Don't forget to ask them to cook you some Brittany style crepes.. with egg and cheese. :-)

We stayed only one week with Stephen and Nicole but it was enough to feel like "home"! The help was not really hard and the accomodation (9m luxury bus) is super comfy. We had a really great time with them, interesting chat, delicious food and even a photo shooting!!

We spent two great weeks with Stephen and Nicole. It was a pleasure to help them with their renovation work. They have already done an amazing job but there is still quite a lot to do.

… read more work. It helped us see what work awaits us if we want to buy our own old house later.
Stephen and Nicole made us feel welcome from the very beginning. We slept in their bus, which means that we had our own space and privacy. Plus the bus was very comfortable (thanks for the little heater!) and looked like a palace compared to our little van.
Nicole is a great cook and prepares delicious meals. Stephen let us used his garage and tools to work on our van during our free time. We really much enjoyed sharing our travel experiences.

They were great company, very respectful of our home and our space, and also cooked some awesome meals for us..
