Hey! I'm looking to line up 3-4 people who want to give me a hand with a few boat projects on anchor and then give me a hand to haul out the boat and repaint the bottom with antifouling. If you want to stay on after the work in the boatyard you might get a chance to transit the panama canal with me. I would guess 2 weeks working on anchor and 2 weeks on hardstand in the boatyard. Preference will be given to people already in Panama and best if you're a couple or two close friend who don't mind bunking together.

You don't need any special skills, but you should be someone who doesn't mind manual labour, cleaning and cooking. We will be working on some projects but we all need to share the daily duties of life onboard. Lots of work keeping the boat clean and tidy. Life onboard is about good food, goood company and lots of laughs. We work hard but we play hard too. There's been lots of rain lately can be grey and depressing, but it's not completely horrible. Can do like the locals and still take a trip out to the beach. It's still warm in the water. Or can hike the trails and view the forts. Or take a trip in the kayak into the mangroves to see the wildlife.

Projects we have giong on are:

    1) Painting (Hardstand - Linton Bay Marina)
    • Prep hull - remove old layer of antifouling
    • Touch ups- touchup any locations where bare aluminum is exposed
    • Primer - add two coats of high build epoxy
    • Antifouling - two coats of death to ocean critters paint

    2) Mechanical (Hardstand - Linton Bay Marina)
    • Pull rudders
    • Extract old rudder bearings
    • Transport rudder to machine shop
    • Have machine shop machine new rudder bearings
    • Install new rudder bearings
    • Reinstall rudders

    3) Sewing - New Sail Cover (On anchor)
    • Remove the mainsail from the mast
    • Remove the old sailcover
    • Use the old sailcover as a template for the new sailcover
    • Install the new sailcover
    • Re-attach the mainsail to the mast

    4) Welding (Misc Projects)
    • Cutting and prepping the pieces
    • Tig welding vents for the cabins
    • Tig welding of smaller prieces on anchor
    • Tig welding of items to the boat in a marina

    5) Cabin Mods
    • One cabin we'll gut and install a new floor , modify some plumbing and install new cabin sole

If you're keen send me a message:

    1) Tell me a little about yourself?
    2) what do you like to cook for the team?
    3) what do you expect from the experience?
    4) what do you like to do in your downtime?

You can learn about sailing, the sea, the Caribbean coast. Any and all things about boats. I've travelled many parts of the world as well. Can certainly share what I know.

On anchor it's pretty chill. Probably average 5 hours a day. IN the boatyard we'll be working longer days to get out sooner. We'll make up for it by taking some chill days on anchor once we're out.

No specific skills required, all that really matters is a good working attitude and care for what you are doing. I don't mind teaching what I know and what I don't know we can learn together.

  • Alojamiento

    Alojamiento

There are private double cabins. 3 of them and 3 toilets on board. There is water for showers, but best to limit shower to 5 mins to conserve water (watermaker can only replace the water so fast). No hot showers, but if showering in the early evening or afternoon the water can be hot.

In general it's a boat. It has many creature comforts but it is not a house (no hairdryer, small stove, small oven, showering outdoors). We try mainly to run on only solar, but have generator and engines for backup, but prefer to use sparingly. Think glamping...more camping than glam though.
