  We are looking for a friendly, empathetic, self motivated, kind, fun German speaker to help with our almost 11 and 8 year old daughters, our friendly spaniel dog and beautiful 1.5 year old rescue pup. You need to be enthusiastic and outgoing, as well as authentic and talkative with the kids. Otherwise, it will be harder for the kids to warm to you and they won't get to hear German if you're quiet and reserved! You of course would have your own space, we don't expect you to be with us chatting all the time. We just want someone who is naturally chatty :-) . You will be treated as part of our family. The kids study at a German school, the eldest is pretty fluent, the youngest is shyer about speaking but understands most things. Both need to practice!
  
  
  You will need reviews / references and to tell me in your message what your experience with dogs is. Our puppy is quite excitable so we really want someone who has owned their own dog and is very comfortable with them and loves spending time with them
  
  The role is relatively flexible as we will be around a lot of the time. It will involve playing with the girls, getting them snacks, helping with their lunch boxes and bag organising, and speaking to them in German. There may be some helping with homework. They are very sporty and energetic and pretty easy to look after. They love having a 'big sister 'to play with! You will also put away their washing (they should help you with this!) and tidy their rooms with them, plus some babysitting in the evening. There are some specific times when we play to be out at all day and would like the dogs to be looked after. We can give you these dates in advance. There will potentially be weekend work but 2 days off during the week. Ideally you will speak to our kids in German as much as possible but we would speak to you in English. Being able to play a musical instrument would help as the girls play flute and violin.

  You need to be kind and empathetic. If you feel children should repress their emotions and that adults do not need to earn their respect, we are not the family for you! Our children have boundaries but they are given with empathy. We believe adults need to model respect to their children, not parent by fear and demands (though we don't always get this right, we are not perfect after all!).

  We’re a friendly, relaxed, very well travelled family of 4 who moved from the U.K. to Australia in 2021. We live in a large house and you would have your own newly renovated double bedroom with a new bathroom next door that isn't used much by the rest of the family. in a beautiful beachside area on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Public transport is good where we are and we are walking distance of the village centre. We have a beautiful, newly renovated, heated pool and spa.
  
  Marco is an engineer and I am a lawyer, currently doing some university teaching. We have had lots of au pairs in the past and had some great experiences with workaways here in Sydney (we can provide references). We love welcoming new people into our home.
  
  We are animal loving, vegetarian, eat mainly vegan family meals, and try to be eco conscious. We have travelled a lot- our favourite countries so far are Colombia and Iran (without the kids!) With them we recently had great holidays in Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan and Vanuatu).
  
  Marco speaks fluent Italian and I speak French and Spanish but we are both native English speakers and our family speak English to each other. We need our Workaway to speak in German to the kids. Some find this difficult but it is really important for us.
  We provide internet, Netflix etc.

  We can help you with English, and learn about each other’s backgrounds. Our girls love meeting new people and we love exposing them to different cultures.
  
  Our area is beautiful, surrounded by beaches lagoons and lakes. Surfing (including sand surfing!), kayaking, swimming, walking in the national park, it’s all possible! We are 25 minutes walk to the beach and a bit less to the bay.
  
  We’re 45 mins on the express bus to central sydney (these run every 6 mins) and a short walk from the local town centre with lots of independent shops; restaurants, cafes and a great microbrewery are just down the road.

  We are looking for someone - kind and with initiative -to do some straightforward tasks around our home and walk our dogs and puppy sit, plus some babysitting.
  
  Plus playing with the kids and spending time with them in our house, garden, pool or local area.
  
  Evening babysitting is also sometimes required (super easy once the girls are in bed but would also involve getting them to bed). We will also ask you to walk the dogs or be home at some point when we are going out for the day (this can also be negotiated with the couple who live in a separate apartment within the house who will help too).
  
  If you can cook delicious vegan family meals (we have lots of recipe books!) that would be great but isn't required. Cooking very simple vegetarian meals for the girls (pasta etc) may be required as well as baking some simple treats- we have the recipes. So if you love baking that's a bonus!
  
  Please when messaging tell me:
  1) when you are able to start,
  2) on what visa,
  3) how long you could stay
  4) what your experience is with children of similar ages to urs
  5) what your experience is with dogs and whether you have owned one
  - Otherwise you will be rejected as we will only consider people who have read our advert properly (we get a lot of applications!).
  Who are we looking for
  - someone who is warm, outgoing and interested in a cultural exchange (we like to have someone who speaks a different language for this reason).
  -someone who can cope with the chaos of a busy family with 2 young children who are amazing, loving and great fun but, like most children who are allowed to express their needs, sometimes have big feelings (we find we connect best with people who have grown up in similar houses and with siblings).
  
  - someone who is proactive, empathetic and understanding. This is really important. We treat our children with respect so if you are of the view that children need to automatically respect adults, and adults don’t need to earn that respect, we are not the family for you. Our children have boundaries but we give them kindly and empathetically, as well as listen to them and allow them to express their opinions. Our girls are also super active and sporty and busy.
  
  -someone who has lived away from home before and is used to cleaning up after themselves.
  
  - someone reliable and dependable
  
  -Someone fun who genuinely enjoys being around children!
  
  In return we will be flexible and considerate. We are happy for you to go out when you want ( within reason- if you like to party every night until late, we aren’t the family for you!) and many of your hours would be flexible. The kids are much easier than younger kids and have had lots of fun and built great relationships with previous Workaways!

  Alojamiento

  Own newly decorated double bedroom next door to new bathroom. This won't be used much by the family, and will mainly be yours. In a big house with a good sized garden and a heated swimming pool and spa (jacuzzi) that you are welcome to use! It is a bit chilly in the winter months though.
  
  We have a holiday home in Jindabyne so there may be opportunities for you to visit the snow.

  You can visit lots of Sydney's iconic, stunning surf beaches from here, many are just a short bus ride away. Palm beach, where Home and Away is filmed, is not far, and Avalon, Newport and Bilgola are even closer. All are accessible by bus.
  
  Winnerremmy bay is walking distance, you can SUP or kayak here in the calm water. You can also hike and explore the bush and waterfalls in the local national park.
  
  The centre of Sydney is easy to get to on the express bus (very frequent) but we feel like we have the best of both worlds here- none of the traffic or craziness of the city but still lots going on and easy access to it. Please note that it is 45-50 minutes on the bus to the centre of Sydney. They run 24 hours and every 5 -8 minutes.
