My first time in Sweden and my first workaway experience...and truely a really beautiful one! After a short time I felt like home and a part of the family. I enjoyed every single minute spending time with Christian, Petra, Katharina, Selma and Maria. The work and also the free time we spend together...for example with standup paddeling on the lake
… read more behind the house in the evenings or making delicious Barbecues...oh man...it was so much fun!!! :) I loved it to prepare delicous dinner together with the family or baking cookies. Thank you also for support my photography work and the great experience in the moose park. All that beautiful memories are saved in my heart and I`m so grateful for that. Thank you so much for all and definitely we`ll see us again...i will not leave Sweden without one of christian`s delicious homemade pizza...!!!! :)

We came to Björkaholm in March. Our journey to Sweden was pretty long and exhausting but we immediately felt welcomed and comfortable as soon as we met Christian, his wife Petra, their daughter and their dog. Christian showed us the house, we could unpack our things and take a nap, until we ate the first of many delicious meals Christian cooked
… read more for us! It was always nice to sit at the dinner table with the lovely family and talk about anything that came to our minds. Their daughter is so fun, too! She is very open, friendly and loves to chat with you.
Our tasks where for example cleaning, gardening and crafts (nothing complicated). It wasn't important when we did our work during the day (as long as we finished it) which was nice because we could theoretically sleep as long as we wanted to. When it was raining, we could switch to some tasks inside or even quit working for the day. So the work in general was pretty flexible.
Due to the whole Covid-19 situation, we had to leave earlier than planned but it was still a great time for us.

Neither do we forget about Moa, Susy and her little presents :) During our stay, they also received visits of friends and other workawayers, we really enjoyed being with people in the house and everyone was really kind and friendly people. … read more made by Petra), to talk together, also with their guests, to have conversation with Katharina, to watch together football championship...), to walk, to cycle, to spend time on the lake, to join Christian to the moose park, to drive to the next shopping center, or the beautiful farmshop etc.
The cleaning work for guest houses was quite arduous but also brought me in a flow of energy. Helping in preparing dinner for guests was funny and amusing.

Lena and Tom spent two month at our home in lovely Småland/Sweden. They helped a lot. Gardening, housekeeping and little building projects are only a few examples. Especially Lena had a good relation to our autistic daughter.

Unsere erste Workaway Erfahrung hätte nicht besser sein können! Wir waren 2 Monate bei Christian und Co. und direkt ab der ersten Sekunde ein Teil der Familie und wurden immer wenn die Möglichkeit bestand überall mit hin genommen zB zu Märkten, in die umliegenden Städte oder den Elchpark. … read more in einer sehr ruhigen Gegend, in der man schöne Spaziergänge mit dem super süßen Familienhund Zirka machen kann (aber nur wenn man ihr Vertrauen gewinnt). Auch wenn die Umgebung ruhig ist, so ist stets Leben im Haus. Es sind sehr oft Gäste zu Besuch, wodurch man viele verschiedene Menschen kennenlernt.
Die Arbeit an sich war nie sehr schwer und war vielseitig, da man entweder eins der Gästehäuser putzt, im Garten arbeitet oder im Haus hilft und im Besonderen Katharina im Alltag begleitet.
Wir haben Katharina total ins Herz geschlossen und Lena vermisst die Lese Sessions am Abend bereits sehr. Wir würden allerdings raten sich vorher bewusst zu sein was Autismus ist, da es zu Beginn durchaus überfordernd sein kann, wenn man wirklich nichts darüber weiß. Wir haben in den 2 Monaten eine unvergessliche Erfahrung machen dürfen und wollen uns sehr dafür bedanken, dass dies möglich war.
Eines unserer Highlights war das tägliche Abendessen, welches von Hobby- gefühlt Profikoch Christian gezaubert wurde. Allgemein kann man beim Punkt Essen nur ein riesiges Lob und Danke verteilen, denn es wurde extrem auf Toms Allergien geachtet und wir haben eine Menge über Ernährung gelernt.
Zusammenfassend: Vielem Dank für alles ChriPeKaMaSe!!!!!
We spent 2 months with that incredible family and it was our first workway experience, which couldn’t be better. Even though it’s a remote area with a beautiful landscape there was always action inside the house. You can go for walks with the dog or you can go by bus to many small cities (Most of the time you can get a lift from the family).
During the day you have different tasks, like cleaning cabins, gardening or especially helping Katharina get through the day. Working with Katharina was very fun and a great experience. Lena is already missing the reading sessions. We are glad that we had the opportunity to learn a lot in these 2 months.
One of our highlights was the daily dinner because Christian created a delicious meal everyday. But besides that they also managed to deal with Toms allergies and we were able to learn a lot about nutrition.
