**We are currently looking for a couple or group of two who do not mind sharing a bed. Also must be 21+!
Aloha! The land we are blessed to steward is made up of nearly 8 acres and is located in the Central Valley of Maui, Hawaii. Our primary focus is to advocate, educate and champion regenerative/sustainable agriculture through entrepreneurship. We aim to give more than we take in all aspects of life.
Unfortunately, a large portion of our society doesn't support nor participate in a regenerative/sustainable food system making it difficult to operate. But we love a challenge, so we push forward to forge a brighter future. Are you game?
One of the most difficult parts of this challenge is that our population doesn’t truly understand the connection between soil health, the nutrient density of their food and human health. Industrial farming has nearly destroyed the microbiome of the soils (which is the foundation of growing nutrient-dense crops) and thus our human health has declined since the 1950s. Although this can feel defeating, we use these challenges as fuel for our creativity to support our mission, ourselves and our community.
Internship Description
4 days @ 7ish hours a week = 28 hours + Farmer’s Market day (5am-1pm)
Daily farm maintenance including watering, path maintenance and cleaning
Planting, caring for and harvesting taro to create super tasty tortillas that we also sell at the local farmer’s market
Harvesting and producing our famous dehydrated bananas as well as our frozen taro products for sale in the community
Restoring the microbiome of our farm using regenerative techniques specific to the tropics and then fostering the microbial life back into the soil to ensure our crops are nutritionally dense
Various ad-hoc farm projects
Feeding the local community our delicious tacos at the local farmer's market
Assisting with our educational Farm Tour and Tasting several times every week
Leading value-added production runs (tortillas, banana candy & taro)
If you are interested in participating in the above activities and thus the organic/regenerative farming movement, this is an excellent opportunity. We grow a variety of crops including taro, sugarcane, banana, papaya, turmeric, pumpkins and a variety of teas and herbs. We also have lots of baby mango, coconut and other fruit trees that are on their way to producing. Our interns will gain a unique perspective on cultural farming practices and most leave feeling inspired to contribute to a positive planetary future.

Alojamiento
Our farm is part of a 300 acre conservation easement with hopes of keeping that land from becoming developed. Unfortunately, we are unable to live on the land but currently live just 6 minutes from the farm in Wailuku. We have a 12x20’ structure in the backyard with a queen bed, desk and dresser where you will stay with access to our kitchen and bathroom. We will provide a ride to and from the farm each day and encourage you to soak up as much farm life and beach time as possible!
Certain staples as well as food for lunch will be provided by the farm on work days. Other meals and food are the interns responsibility, we will assist with grocery runs. We take the organization and cleanliness of our space very seriously and require the same of our interns.
We highly suggest a car rental while you are staying on island. The farm is central to everything but the spread-out nature of Maui makes a vehicle necessary. We have a couple of contacts for vehicle rentals.Algo más...
The farm is located 10-15 minutes away from the towns of Wailuku, Kahului and Kihei where you’ll find shops, restaurants, and a variety of beautiful beaches and hikes to explore. The gate is locked at all times but there is a lock box for our farm to enter and exit the property.
