We opened our guest house and yoga retreat in the village of Shroma, Guria, Georgia, in June 2024. It took us, along with friends and volunteers from around the world, a little less than two years to bring new life to an old, abandoned village farmhouse.
Our core team of four has been living in Georgia for over five years, so we know how things work here and are happy to guide you through life and work in the village... oh, and we also have 11 cats and 4 dogs keeping us company!
We're looking for volunteers to help operate the guest house—housekeeping, cleaning, gardening, cooking for our team—as well as those interested in construction and DIY projects.
In return, we offer accommodation in a shared dorm room or tent, three vegetarian meals a day, breathtaking sunsets almost every evening, and warm community time with like-minded people around the fireplace or on our terrace, sharing stories, playing board games, and more.

You can learn about Georgian village life and local traditions, develop the knowledge of DIY construction and gardening and benefit from our joint meals and community gatherings by the fireplace where people from around the world share their life stories, play board games and have fun.

Batumi is 1 hour drive, Ozurgeti and Poti 30 minutes drive, beach is 20 minutes drive and Bahmaro mountain 1 hour. We have 2 cars in our property and happy to give a ride when time allows otherwise local mini-buses or hitchhiking are always a good option to get to some point.

I had a lovely time staying in Shroma. The community is awesome and there's always work to do, be it on the property, in the house or the kitchen. Our first experience with Workaway here was AMAZING. We've been there for more than 3 months in winter and spring. I spend 2 weeks in Shroma, where I was welcome in a friendly environment with lots of interesting people.

I was really impressed with Yann. He specially took vacation and fly to work in our place in Georgia and then flew back to France. Yann has worked in all fields from kitchen to gardening works and also in construction and he did well everywhere.

We've spend ten days in the so called "Shromatic Garden", a wonderful house on a hill, surrounded by a forest and a little canyon.🏞️

Lisa & Misha stayed with us in yearly March and did help a lot in our project. Starting from quite nasty job as cleaning the garbage on the adjoining territory, followed by further sorting of ths garbage for recycling, dissembling collapsing house, cooking meals and then cleaning the house – they all did great and we felt little sorry they left …… read more

We stayed in this workaway for 2 weeks and loved it. We were many volunteers at the same time which created a small community of people all working together. This place is cool! I was here during the very early stages of this project and only for a short time, but I worked with Nikita and Anna on a different project for 3 months and they are the best!
