I am a professional photographer (British, resident in Italy 30 + years) living in a renovated farmhouse divided into two separate houses in the beautiful area of the Monferrato region which is part of a UNESCO site, in Piedmont. It is an eco project, powered by photovoltaic panels and wood-fired central-heating. It is on a hill, with a fantastic panoramic view, surrounded by woods and vineyards.

The area is wonderful for walking, running, cycling, horse-riding, photography, creative painting, meditation etc. The towns often have festivals, concerts etc from spring through to late autumn, the area is renowned for its wines and gastronomy- especially truffles! having recently become a UNESCO Heritage Site there is lots to explore around.

In the short term I'm mostly looking for help with the garden, which is about 1/4 hectres, and which requires constant attention. There are flowerbeds to weed, vegetable garden to attend to, a wooded area to clear and wood to cut.
I also need some help with redecorating, cleaning and sprucing up the older part of the house.
More long-term tasks include drystone walls to mend.
I could also do with some IT help with making another website, and other online activities, also scanning transparencies to digital and helping with my photo archive.
I am vegetarian. Meals are shared, but if you want to eat meat you can prepare it yourselves, no problem.

The house is less than 2kms from the village, 10 min walk from bus route, 25kms from nearest large towns of Asti and Casale Monferrato, where there are train stations. Nearest airports are Genoa (120 km), Turin (90 km) and Malpensa (Milan) (125 km).

Urio stayed for a week and in that time he mostly chopped and stacked wood, and cleared and cleaned in the garden. He is a willing and enthusiastic worker, conscientious and happy to work alone. Staying with Anne was an absolute treat - she was wonderful and helpful from day one and very much tried to make me feel at home. And Balu is a great big sweetheart who will happily be your new best friend. We stayed with Anne for two weeks. From the start she made us feel at home, and both her and her big hairy dog, Balu, were great company. She was very hospitable: helping us with our visas, feeding us well and showing us around the area. We look forward to seeing her again; either in Italy or back in our home country of New Zealand.
