Hello Everyone,

My husband Naveen (from Sri Lanka) and I, Anke (from Germany) started our Camping lodge in the Mountains of Haputale from scratch back in January 2018. It is situated on top of a Cliff and is 1.8km away from the nearest village on the mountain next to us. What we want to offer our guests is to Escape from it All and Feel how the Nature can Heal you in the most Simplistic Way.

You are probably asking yourself by now how exactly did that happen? Well, here is a little bit about us:

From... a cosmopolitan London city lifestyle
To... living on a rural off grid Cliff Top lodge
Be honest... Who on earth would do that? Crazy, right?

Well, we did just that... and it wasn't hard at all.

But... we had to give up everything:
Such as a comfortable home with all luxury gadgets you can imagine, well-paid jobs and promising careers
(Together we collected over 30 years of experience working in the European hotel industry managing high-end restaurants, prestigious cocktail bars and fine dining divisions within the corporate hospitality business for well-known clients) and also travelling the world.

But wait... all of this is true but even so, we gained a lot more than we gave up:
A home within pure nature and wildlife healing our busy minds and bringing us even closer together, giving chances to our local staff members and surrounding communities and also opportunities to support people in need and the environment.

For us... It's the most rewarding decision we have ever made
And with all the experiences we gained throughout our lives, we now feel even richer than before...

Nature Loving Travel Groups (up to 8 people max), Couples or Solo Travellers - everyone is welcome here to disconnect for a few Days from the Rest of the World and indulge in the pure Beauty of Nature. Our guests have the entire place for themselves as we are only taking one booking at the time to ensure an Extraordinary Camping Experience in Tranquility.

Our Camping lodge has been specifically left untamed and untouched. It's a Serene Scene. Perfect to embrace Mother Nature in this rugged and natural Setting nestled among the Haputale Mountain Range. Located thousand meters above sea level the real Joy of the campsite is the Escapism - hiding away on the Cliff and in the Forest, enjoying Breathtaking Panoramic Views and the Extraordinary Biodiversity of the Wildlife around.

A 360 degree View from the Cliff lets you follow the Clouds on their Journey through the almost endless Mountain Range enjoying blissful Sunrises, glowing Sunsets, the majestic Moon and twinkling Stars.

Its a Rustic and Simple Life up here, an Off Grid living Experience with No Electricity, No Hot Water and very Limited Phone Signals.

The Lodge is situated in a very rural area and as mentioned the next village is about 2km away from us which can only be reached by hiking through the forest - no road. The communities in the village are mainly Hindus as they are working on the tea plantations in the surroundings. You will get to see and know how these people are still living a very simple life and get to know their rich culture and traditional way of living. There are quite a few festivals all year around which definitely will be a one of a kind experience.

We have 2 full time staff working with us here - from which one is Singhalese following Buddhism and one is Tamil following the Hindu religion. Both of them are living in the villages around us and are more than happy to teach you about their culture, history and languages. Join them and visit their families and enjoy the great hospitality of the Sri Lankan people.

We are not only working closely with the communities around us but we are also supporting a home for disabled elderly people which the landowner of the Cliff build up all alone with his own money. Come and join us to get to know these people, to help and support them and make a difference in their life.

There is a rich culture all around these Mountains with Buddhists, HIndus, Christians and Muslims all living together giving you the chance to experience all these different aspects of Sri Lanka's culture all in one. You can go on hikes, chase one of the countless waterfalls and experience the beauty of the tea plantations all around. There is an extraordinary biodiversity to be experienced when discovering the mountains and forests up close to see its tapestry of sights, sounds, smells and even textures with the nearby wildlife less likely to be disturbed by your presence.

* If you are a yoga teacher Just received the qualification or with heaps of experience and if you are interested in helping us to set up Yoga retreats up on the cliff, we would love to hear from you.

Four different languages ( Sinhala, Tamil, English, German) are spoken at the lodge mirroring the wide diversity is Sri Lanka and especially in his place.
Alojamiento
We are living here in a tent ourselves and will provide you with your own tent equipped with an air mattress, sleeping bag, pillow and bedsheet as well.

Let us know if you have any allergies or dietary requirements as we will provide you with staff meals, tea, coffee and water all around.

As mentioned this is a very rural place therefore there are no shops etc. around. Our shopping is done as locally as possible with vegetables coming from the village and everything else we get from Haputale. Of course you can give us a list of things you want from there or join Wasantha when he is doing to do the shopping or you can go and see for yourself.

Also, please be aware that there is only very limited phone signal up here and we can only charge power banks etc. in the village. So there will be a way to charge for basic needs but in a limited way.

Last but not least there is a shower and toilet with an unbeatable open view for you to use but please note that there is No Hot Water available.

There are plenty of options available if you are looking to discover the mountains in all it's beauty. We are happy to guide you and discuss details. A popular hike eg. is going up to the famous Lipton Seat view point following a 12 km unknown scenic route through tiny villages and tea estates. There are plenty of tea estates and factories around and you also can go and visit the highest and second highest waterfall of Sri Lanka.
