Information if you want to be a guest student in Marburg University: the winter term starts the 15th of October.
===================
We have a special situation in which you can join a student's community while being a guest student in Marburg University for three days a week and look after an elderly person for 2 days and nights a week and helping in the household for some hours.
If you feel like supporting a household and be an elderly companion please get in touch.
You are welcome to stay at least for two months (otherwise we have too many changes in our little community).
In our new situation we have two different places to stay: two days in the Frankfurt area in a spacious quiet apartment with garden in nice surroundings with the elderly person and two days in the lively student's place in the historical city of Marburg. For the rest of the time it is your choice what place you want to be in, both is possible.
About us: We are an open minded and relaxed family living in a house with other students and sharing this project with eight students living in the house next door.
About Marburg: We are in the center of a historical University town close to historical buildings, like the castle on the top of the hill or the church of Saint Elisabeth.The river, the forest, but also the the medieval center of the city with the shops are in walking distance. We are next to the oldest protestant UNIVERSITY in Germany with 25 thousand students. The atmosphere in the city is very young and lively. There is a lot of CULTURE, but also the opportunity to bike or to walk. It is easy to participate in classes or cultural events or to meet young people. Inhabitants of the city are allowed to be GUEST STUDENTS and thats's why some of our workawayers became students.
So its basically all about learning in this city, in our neighbourhood and amongst the students: learning about many different topics, about culture, different way of life, sheep and ponies, ideas and also practical things like taking care of a garden, cooking or being part of a household.
We have had people living with us for over 15 years... aupairs, workawayers, visitors and students living in the house from England, Scotland, Wales, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Denmark, Poland, Germany, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, India, China, South Africa, the US and Canada. We are used to share our space and we love to WELCOME people who are also open minded, CURIOUS, CREATIVE and have POSITIVE energy.
We went with them to CONCERTS or TALKS, had CONVERSATIONS about so many things, produced ART, did SPORTS, had little TRIPS or just spend some free TIME.
In Marburg: You will share a house with other students next door. You will have your own furnished room there and share the kitchen and the garden... This little STUDENTS' COMMUNITY is very kind and often workawayers spend free time with them...
In the Frankfurt area: You will have your own room and shared bathroom, internet access, and an easy 15-minutes way with public transport to the Frankfurt city center in your free time if you like, or a short way to the mountain for a hike, -

Some examples of what workawayers have learnt here: how to make strawberry cream cake or pizza, how to express yourself in German, about the different characters of sheep, how to lead a pony on the lunge, how to organise yourself, about classical music, art and lifestyle, about German students' life, about recycling and many more things.
From October until February and from April until August the University offers plenty of classes and programs -also in English- where you can choose from. You can experience a traditional and vital German university town with lots of young people from all over the world. You could take classes as a guest student for three days per week. -
