Volunteering on the Alveetine boat was really cool for me. It was an incredible experience living on a boat and knowing how everything works. I was very happy and grateful because I was learning to speak English and even so, she accepted me and did her best to have good communication and everything went well. At the moment I was only going to stay
… read more for a month but I liked it so much that I ended up staying for almost 2 months. My activities were walking the dog Kuoon and cleaning the outside of the boat, watering the plants, cleaning the rooms of the air bnb guests. I am very grateful and I was very happy during the season I was there. Albertine is always ready to help you with whatever you need. Thank you Albertine. Kisses to Kuoon

Was a pleasure work in this amazing project for albertine, she is a very open minded person, without even knowing me he trusted a lot in us. Work in a boat is not that easy cause most of the materials are not the same as the ones on a house construction. But thankfully in the boat there are also very good vibes. Erik, my boat partner, teached me
… read more all the stuff: how to use the injector, the epoxy, putting the lamps... And it would not have been possible without albertine cause she was always aware. if we needed any material at the next day she brought to us. And if i had any problem or question about whatever unrelated with the boat she was there for answer me. The spes Is big and confortable so i used to had my space for me. We also had a bicycle so it was so easy to move when i had free time. The distance to the centre was 30 minutes on bicycle. Live in the spes for one month and a half was one of the cooler experience i ever had. definitely a pleasure to met albert and work on her project. Thanks very much Albert!Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

Working for Albertine was very rewarding and I got to live the true Amsterdam experience.
I had no previous experience in wall finishing or construction although have a great background knowledge for design and art. I worked in a duo with one other workaway traveller and together we came to master the poly-pox epoxy product after a few
… read more applications. The work was precise and repetitive, to such a state that it was almost a therapeutic art. Patience and time management were two important qualities needed to work with the epoxy to make the walls flat and even.
The sanding of the product was a little more difficult but definitely rewarding once complete. The final layer of paint over the epoxy wall was extremely satisfying. I would recommend this work for those who are good with their hands and have a construction or creative background.
The boat in general was an amazing place to live, even some Dutch locals were envious of my living situation. The location was perfect 20min tram, 40min bike ride from the city centre, a little piece of quiet paradise away from crazy tourist packed streets. The 1950's cargo ship has been newly renovated by an amazing architect with lots of windows and natural light to amazing views, a rare thing to come across in Amsterdam. Even on cloudy days plenty of light leaked into the boat. A great, large kitchen is already complete so cooking up a storm was always a joy, as well as soaking in the bath after a day of work. I loved being on the water and amongst the birds, especially the large grey Heron who likes to fish on the jetty at night. During the day you could hear the birds singing and at night the waves crashing.
Albertine was an amazing host to work, although she has a busy work life so independent workflow and planning is essential. She likes to set goals and deadlines to work towards to trust that the project is getting complete.
I will never forget my time on the boat in Amsterdam, I’m hoping to visit again in the future. Thank you again Albertine.Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

Albertine was such a pleasure to get to know and really helped me out when I was in need!
I had a lot of previous experience painting and prepping walls but had never before worked with the products used on the boat. Going in I was a bit nervous about my ability, but once we started working the poly-pox is not hard to get used to if you have done
… read more this sort of work before. The process is methodical, slow and detailed and does require a somewhat experienced hand. Overall though it was very relaxing and almost therapeutic to make the walls flat and even.
The boat itself is one of the coolest places I have ever lived. The setting is absolutely gorgeous with views of the lake and other cargo ships, about a 20-30 minute tram or bike ride to the center. The ship is quite large, airy and full of sunlight (somewhat rare in Amsterdam) and the sound of the birds and waves is very pleasant. You can also see the sunrise over the water in the morning which was my favorite part.
Albertine has an important/demanding day job and can't be around much, so you must be responsible for your own schedule and planning. She is extremely flexible though and just wants the job done neatly and precisely.
It was a wonderful stay and I am so glad to have this experience and a new skill. Thank you Albertine!Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.
