Welcome to Buryatia!
My name is Dolgor, I live in a small village in the beautiful, sunny Republic of Buryatia, Russia. I have a large family who live together in Hargana (Харгана). We keep cows and pigs, have two dogs and a cat. In the summer we also grow vegetables.
Our life is a simple and traditional one. In our vilage you will encounter many smiles and friendly handshakes, be surrounded by beautiful mountains, enjoy the peace and quiet and take in the sun which our region is famous for.
We have two shops and a post office in the village.

The Buryat people have a very interesting culture full of traditions and wisdom. We are known for our hospitality and our connection to our surroundings. We also know and practice many Russian traditions. I can help you practice Russian or even Buryatian languages (it is similar to Mongolian). I studied Asian History at university so can talk about the history an traditions of people in Northern/Central Asia.

You will be part of our everyday life, so helping feeding the animals, cleaning their houses, collecting wood and growing vegetables is normal.
Mostly we would like you to help at our school, where I am the english teacher. I would really like native english speakers to help our students practice english. The students at the school are very keen learners, and very interested in you and your cultures. You will teach alongside me.

You can stay with us in our main house, where we have many beds. Or we have a small second house, which has a stove and bed. We can arrange for you to stay however you prefer. You can eat with us 3 or more times a day, it's not a problem.
As our village is a classic countryside and so, as is normal here, our water comes from a well, we heat our house with wood in the stove, our toilet is an outdoor drop toilet and we have a banya for washing yourself.
Hargana is situated between Ulan Ude (70km) and Gusinoozersk (37km). You can get here by train or bus. Both are easy to come from and I can help with this. We are in a great position for people travelling to Mongolia from Irkutsk/Ulan-Ude/Baikal.
We don't use wifi in our village, but russian sim cards are very cheap and come with a lot of data. I would reccommend buying one.
