I am a French language teacher and also a former tour guide. My family and I live in Trecastagni, one of the last towns going up from Catania, on the slopes of Mount Etna. My wife Rosetta is an employee and has a great passion for photography. Our children are 15 and 14 and their names are Luigi and Irene. We don't have a specific project, ours is a classic family: work, home, family, travel, good food (and good wine!), Discovering, etc. Oh yes! we are part of a mutual hospitality association.
Sono un docente di lingua francese e anche ex guida turistica. Io e la mia famiglia abitiamo a Trecastagni, uno degli ultimi paesi salendo da Catania, sulle pendici del monte Etna. Mia moglie Rosetta è impiegata e ha una grande passione per la fotografia. I nostri figli hanno 15 e 14 anni e si chiamano Luigi e Irene. Non abbiamo un progetto ben preciso, la nostra è una famiglia classica: il lavoro, la casa, la famiglia, viaggiare, il buon cibo (e il buon vino!), scoprire, ecc. Ah, si! facciamo parte di un'associazione di reciproca ospitalità. Mi interessa anche un aiuto per raccogliere le olive, a Riesi, in modo molto familiare.

Our guests can benefit from the cultural exchange by living with us, moving with us to tourist and culturally interesting places, where I myself could intervene as a former tour guide, have a culinary experience because we are lovers of the typical gastronomic traditions of Sicily. From all this they can learn the Italian language, Sicilian cuisine, get to know places of strong historical / cultural / tourist interest in Sicily.
I nostri ospiti possono trarre beneficio dallo scambio culturale vivendo con noi, spostandosi con noi in luoghi turisticamente e culturalmente interessanti, dove io stesso potrei intervenire in qualità di ex guida turistica, avere un'esperienza culinaria perché siamo amanti delle tradizioni gastronomiche tipiche della Sicilia. Da tutto ciò possono imparare la lingua italiana, la cucina siciliana, conoscere luoghi di forte interesse storico/culturale/turistico in Sicilia.

For the moment the only help I am looking for is to be able to speak in English, only with a direct relationship of reality can we improve the language. As a family, all 4 of us want to be able to have this experience of direct living with the language and through real communication.
Per il momento l'unico aiuto che cerco è di poter parlare in inglese, solo con un rapporto diretto di realtà possiamo migliorare la lingua. In famiglia tutti e 4 desideriamo poter fare questa esperienza di vissuto diretto con la lingua e attraverso una comunicazione reale.

Alojamiento
Our main accommodation is located in Trecastagni (Catania). It is a terraced house in a very calm and quiet neighborhood outside the city. Here we can offer a spacious tavern equipped with a double sofa bed (if necessary another cot, bathroom with shower, television and also a kitchen and refrigerator if the guest sometimes wants to be independent) and there is also a wood oven. We will agree on the meals together also supporting the different eating habits of the guest for us an opportunity to get to know the other. We pay close attention to good food.
Il nostro alloggio principale si trova a Trecastagni (Catania). Si tratta di una villetta a schiera in un quartiere fuori città molto calmo e silenzioso. Qui possiamo offrire una spaziosa taverna attrezzata con un divano letto matrimoniale (all'occorrenza un altro lettino), bagno con doccia, televisione e anche cucina e frigorifero nel caso l'ospite voglia, a volte, essere indipendente), c'è anche un forno a legna. I pasti li concorderemo assieme assecondando anche le diverse abitudini alimentari dell'ospite per noi occasione di conoscenza dell'altro. Facciamo molta attenzione alla buona cucina.

As for free time, it would be right to know from the guest what he would like to do, to help him find the most suitable thing to do for him. There is certainly no shortage of important local attractions. I can say that within 1h: 30 from Trecastagni we have places of tourist, historical, landscape interest such as Taormina, the Etna Volcano, Catania, Syracuse, etc. but the only problem is the transport, a little complicated but still existing (for the latter thing we will then help in moving). The ideal would be the guest with their own car.
Per quanto riguarda il tempo libero sarebbe giusto sapere dall'ospite cosa vorrebbe fare, per aiutarlo a trovare la cosa più adatta da fare a lui. Sicuramente non mancano le attrazioni locali importanti. Posso dire che nel raggio di 1h:30 da Trecastagni abbiamo luoghi di interesse turistico, storico, paesaggistico come Taormina, il Vulcano Etna, Catania, Siracusa, ecc. ma l'unico problema sono i trasporti, un po' complicati ma comunque esistenti (per quest'ultima cosa poi daremo un aiuto noi negli spostamenti). L'ideale sarebbe l'ospite con la propria auto.

Nello spazio della casa che dedico all'accoglienza c'è una scrivania e sedia che rappresentano il mio ufficio (che io cedo all'ospite) dotato di una connessione internet veloce ma non velocissima. In the space of the house that I dedicate to hospitality, there is a desk and chair that represent my office (which I give to the guest) equipped with a fast but not very fast internet connection.
