I moved to the Slocan Valley in 2016. It has been all the peace and quiet and opportunity to provide my own food that I imagined. There's always projects and problem solving and it feels good to be doing it myself and with the help of neighbours. I'm a very grateful part of a small community of doers.
We got farm status in January 2019! We grow a small crop of garlic (Just harvested, August 2019) and have a flock of ducks for "commercial" purposes. We grow our own blueberries/raspberries/ strawberries/apples/plums and a bunch of veggies.
In September I plan to construct a giant geodesic dome that will serve as the woodshop and climbing gym. It's already sitting in pieces in my yard... time to put it up!
It's prime time for floating the Slocan River, and a great time to stay in general. See you soon :)

The Slocan Valley is a very do-it-yourself place. People are relaxed but super handy. Useful hippies. It's also a paradise of mountains and pristine lakes and rivers. There's climbing and paddling and outdoor adventures everywhere.

Your own private camper with stove, fridge, sink.
There is some communal food available from the gardens, eggs, and basics like flour, sugar, etc. I would be especially keen to get a communal dinner every night if dietary preferences allow.
I like to work in the morning's when it's cool and go spend the hot hours in the afternoon in the river (can walk 10 minutes to the river or drive to lots of nice spots). Floating the river is a so mellow and nice. there's a couple sections of small rapids that are exciting in an explorer 200 :) In the evenings I do some more work when it cools down.
I try to get out climbing or mounatineering or canoeing at least once a week.

Despite being in the Slocan Valley with no cell service, we do have good internet (good enough for streaming video and video calls at least).
It's a farm! Lots of space for campers. I've leveled a new building site in the woods which would be prime camper van real estate :)
Pets have to be able to be around ducks without killing them, and also able to get along with other dogs (3 on the property). There is a 1-strike rule for pets.
