Help at a family in Spreenhagen
We are a young family who live in Spreehagen, which is near to Berlin. We become parents next year at the end of January and need some help in the garden and some easy tasks around the house. Our current family members are Michael (39), Katie (36), our dog Alma (3) and our cat Carlo (almost 6 months). Alma is a super lovely dog but a little shy and terrified of new people or situations. She has learned so much over the years. We adopted her from Portugal where she lived in an animal shelter. Carlo is quite the opposite of Alma. He is very active, loud and curious. Both are very close and need a lot of love, caresses and food ;-). Last but not least we have some quails in a small coop. From time to time, we hatch our own eggs and breed our own quails

Katie has been a Workawayer herself, traveled several times to Spain and gained some amazing and lovely experiences as a Workawayer in heartwarming host families.
A couple of years ago Katie started to host people at home as well since she knew about those awesome opportunities to join a cultural exchange. She did host already 6 People who came from England, Argentina, Mexico and Spain. Because she changed her live situation she couldn’t carry on with the old account on workaway.
It was time to come up with a new host account to give space for new experiences in a new home.

Katie would still love to share the workaway experience with her partner. So, he can get a feeling for the Workaway-idea itself.

After this short self-presentation, here comes more about the place of action and the work that is asked for.
We live in Brandenburg in a very pleasant small but green village called Spreenhagen. Spreenhagen is surrounded by lots of forests, the “Spree”, many small canals who are great to swim or stand-up-paddling. The forests are great to walk out Alma or just have a great day in the woods. Sometimes we are out to pick mushrooms as well. So If you are a nature lover, there are many possibilities to enjoy the nature.
It’s also possible to go to Berlin by train so you could head up to Berlin within about 40 minutes (train station to train station). Depending on where u want to go to, it takes extra time to get to the train station. So, it might take you some time but it’s possible at all to get to Berlin. So, Berlin might be an excursion or a trip for a weekend. Another nice tip is to go to Potsdam which is the capital of Brandenburg and definitely worth to visit.

We are looking for someone who could help especially with the garden, small things around an in the house and maybe some pet sitting. To Katie it would be also an extra to host a person from Spain who could help her with her Spanish. Maybe someone who would like to teach a bit or refresh conversation with some new words.
Katie has some experience with the language because she has learned some Spanish in school and during the stays in Spain. An opportunity to practice more would be lovely.
The person who comes should be talkative, open, friendly, tidy and sociable and should have lots of empathy and patience for Alma too. We are looking for a volunteer who could support us to finish some things in and around our property. A creative Person with some good ideas for the further arrangements outside and inside the house are very welcome.

    short outline about our hobbies:
We love to go hiking, camping in our van, to travel, meet our friends, make campfires and play board games. We are both quite artistic and like to take pictures.
Michael is a passionate music lover, plays guitar, goes fishing and loves to cook.
Katie likes sport activities, likes to listen to music, dance and loves to cook as well.
For our nutrition, we try to eat healthily and avoid sugar. We both have quite a good knowledge about nutrition in general and have also some experiences with fasting and keto.

In the evenings and weekends the Workawayer will be free to do whatever he wants. He or she can feel free to join us in our activities and gatherings with family and friends as well.
