We are a small scale NGO run completely by volunteers, that works with street children in Kathmandu. Our work is split into two main branches at the moment, the first is our social work activities. This essentially means spending time with children who live on Kathmandu's streets through doing various activities such as playing games, organising informal classes, and just hanging out.
The second is our "youth cafe", which also serves as our main base at the moment, which we are trying to open up as a venture to offer opportunities to youths in the area. This means offering vocational training and potentially a job. The aim is to develop it into a "creative space", which would offer a different environment for Nepalis in the area. We also hope to make some kind of profit from this which will then go to our other activities.
We also hope to open a night shelter for street children in the next few months.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

The work is varied to say the least! We need help with a variety of things, and as our team is small then it is likely that you could help with many of these things if you would like.
The main area that we are looking for though is to work with the Youthcafe. We really need someone who has some experience in a restaurant to come in and help develop this project. Currently we have a great space to make something great, but it needs a lot of work to develop an audience that will come to us.
We also need help teaching and doing training courses (are you skilled in music, cooking, art or even bike mechanics), and general support (odd jobs and coaching/motivating young Nepali volunteers)
Although we primarily work with street children, we have recently started a "Youth Cafe" which we hope to use for different purposes which we really need help with. The reasons are:
-- Providing vocational training for youth from poor backgrounds in topics such as cooking, waitering to start with, and then we hope to diversify
-- Offering a cultural alternative to other public spaces in the area
-- Generating some money for Heartbeat's other projects
We also need help with the cafe, so there is work with decorating and "syling" the place, finding ways to market ourselves, but additionally being able to support with cooking and cleaning is also very important! Otherwise, we ask for 20 hours per week work from you, Monday to Friday, 11am-3pm.
The work with the street children is very general, and we don't have a concrete system yet, so we are very open to suggestions about what you can offer. Typically work will consist of conducting activities for street children like playing games (board games or sport for example) or conducting informal classes (e.g. English, maths, art, computer). We also conduct regular fundraising and awareness events, which we need help with planning, organising and setting up.
Feel free to contact us and even to come by and visit. It might also be possible to offer accommodation within the city. Our website also has a lot more informationIdiomas hablados

We hope to provide long term acomodation upstairs in our youth cafe. This would be a private room with access to shared bathrooms.

We are within Kathmandu, the largest city in Nepal, so there's really a lot to do while you're not working!
