Descripción
I am English but now live permanently in an old farmhouse in a beautiful part of Catalonia, Northern Spain. I would like help developing my eco house and organic garden, particularly demonstration plots and veggie growing, as I frequently have guests and like to spread the word of organic gardening and sustainable life styles. The farmhouse is a Bed and Breakfast, and I have also renovated and now let two holiday apartments in Girona.

I share our place with dogs, cats, chickens and assorted pets so volunteers must love animals to be comfortable here. I offer practical experience in sustainable living, organic gardening and animal & poultry care. Occasionally I like to go exploring the world and then appreciate people willing to house sit after an initial hand over period to ensure they have a great rural retreat here.

I love meeting people and sharing my little piece of paradise with enthusiastic volunteers from all over the world. I look forward to hearing a little bit about yourself and why you would like to join me.

I would particularly like help in the garden with eco projects such as landscaping a new reed bed for bird and butterfly friendly plants. There is always planting, weeding and harvesting in the vegetable organic garden too. Our volunteers look after the poultry and, if they enjoy it, walk the dogs, Pepe and Dani, each day.

My volunteers live in as family in a very comfortable bedroom in the old farmhouse. I offer healthy, home-cooked food, usually with lots of veggies from the garden but not exclusively vegetarian. I'm a nutritionist so if you have a special diet that is no problem. If you would like to cook for me sometimes that's great - I enjoy trying new foods. Free wifi

I do not live near any public transport, so volunteers must let me know when they arrive in Girona and I can pick them up from there. I frequently go into Girona and can offer lifts into town to go exploring around the city or go to the Costa Brava or surrounding hills by bus or train. I will also invite you to any event that I am attending if you would like to join me.

Alison and her friend Tess were a great help here and adapted to many different jobs about the garden. I particularly appreciated their help towards the end of the stay when a huge tree fell and they were able to make it into a garden feature and give me lots of wood for winter.
