  We are a Christian monastic community within Lutheranism. We function legally as a non-profit association and the community functions as a family unit, living together, having a shared household, working together and praying together. Our daily tasks are monastic prayer, hosting guests who come to stay at the Monastery, doing gardening and renovating the 120 years old school building we live in. We are working to create self-sustaining lifestyle, permaculture-inspired food growing and to organize workshops for crafts.
  
  We pray traditional monastic prayer hours in our Chapel three times a day and do meditative Bible reading.
  
  Our property is in rural village in Eastern Finland and we wish to contribute to village activities by giving opportunities to do crafts in our Workshop and have local community meetings in our Library.
  
  You are welcome to stay with us, regardless the faith or religion. We respect you as you are. We require respect, curiousness to learn about Christianity and willingness to live according our monastic schedule while you are staying. You will become part of the Christian community while you stay with us.

  We offer you a glimpse to Finnish countryside, to traditional way of life and how to live everyday life in the middle of Finnish forests. You can go fishing to lake Saimaa, visit the nearby National Park in Kolovesi and hike the nearby half-day walking trail.
  We wish to share our way of monastic prayer with psalm chanting. In our Chapel we have a couple of guitars and a keyboard.
  We also wish to connect with those who are interested in learning what kind of life style Christian community life is, and to learn from people having community life experiences.

  Ayuda

  We wish to have help for gardening and housework, and occasionally various tasks in christian community, for example finding texts and hymns for prayer material from liturgical books and copying and printing them out, organizing them and keeping the library in order.
  
  Those workawayers who are interested in or skilled in light indoor decoration tasks can help us with minor painting projects inside, wall papering and carpentry. If you have craft skills, you can sew, knit or crochet small items or help mending curtains and linen.

  Alojamiento

  Workawayer will stay with us in one person room, The room is furnished with a bed, a desk or a chest and a wardrobe. The wc and shower are shared. The main facility for washing oneself is a traditional, wood burning stove sauna.
  Our volunteers are expected to clean their own space and leave the shared spaces clean and organized after the use.
  
  The community eats breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee/tea and dinner together. The Workawayers are eating with the community. We take turns in making the meals. The Workawayer is expected to participate the cooking.
  
  
  Smoking and alcohol consumption is not allowed in the community.

  The nearest shop, cafe and restaurant are 21 km away from the community, in Enonkoski village.
  The nearest city, 52 km from the community, is Savonlinna. You can visit a medieval castle there. The summer activities in the castle include international opera festival.
  The nearby lake Saimaa is the only lake in Europe where Saimaa ringed seal lives.
  If you are interested to see more monasteries, the only Eastern orthodox monasteries in Finland are located apprx. 90 km from Enonkoski Community.

  The digital nomads ought to bring their own internet access with them. The 4G works well in the area.
