Descripción
This workaway location is set in a Basecamp next to the lush Kanthavara forest, 45km north of Mangalore and 45km south of Udupi. The closest towns are Moodbidri/Karkala (15km radius)
The forest is filled with beautiful streams, lakes, rocks and picnic spots. There are a variety of birds, wild animals, hiking/trekking paths and waterfalls in the area. We have a bambusetum with 68 species of bamboo (more than any within a 300km radius) an Arboretum with 195 varieties of rare tree species and have many wild animals and birds.

Experience living and working in a rain forest. There are peacocks, wild boars, monkeys and leopards in the vicinity. Ideal for those who wish to participate in conservation work, hiking/trekking, experience rural India, detox, meditate, write & practice yoga.

We need help with a) documentation of flora and fauna on the plantation b) setting up of camera traps to document wildlife movement in the area c) observation and record keeping of birds in the area d) documentation of fungii (mushroom) e) identification and trekking and camping trails in the area f) construction of bamboo and natural material based houses, trees houses etc. g) Carbon credit system h) Large landscape conservation initiatives
Prior subject knowledge is not a must but you must be willing to work in tandem with a well resourced site team some of whom are Masters and Doctoral students
On the day you arrive you will be given a full tour of the property, during which you can meet the team and see what is being done

We have a dormitory which can accommodate up to 20 people. We have a community kitchen that serves vegan meals. We have Wi-Fi, western toilets, parking, washing machines, bikes for rent (for work and to tour the wider region) etc.

Easy access to 1000 column temple and Jain burial site, 500 year old 42ft stone stautue of Mahaveer, beaches, forests, hiking / cycling trails, sites within the city. Close by there are mountains, plantations, rivers etc too.

All the staff of the farm was super nice and I I felt very welcomed, it is nice to feel a part of the local workers crew. food was very good as well.

Arun provides excellent privat accommodation in Mangalore. We helped him at his non-commercial free library.
