We are a Farm on Denman Island BC. We are a 2 acre hobby farm who are welcoming helpers and hopefully future friends to help with our garden projects, planting an orchard, building greenhouses, decks, harvesting and preserving food, helping with the chickens amongst many other things. We are also looking to share this beautiful island with people who appreciate nature, peace and the ocean. We are all immigrants to this country and area and have such a strong appreciation for its beauty.

During your stay, you will be living in your own travel trailer parked out in our field. It looks directly out toward the water, giving you incredible, front-row sunrise views over Hornby Island every morning. We live in a house on the property and we have a tenant named Cami that lives in our cottage. Occasionally other friends, family or guests stay in our guest room or motorhome we have on the property. Cami and Annie are both fluent in spanish (Camila is a badass Chilean snowboard/ski instructor who also speaks Portuguese)
Coffee & Hanging Out: A local coffee shop/Bookstore (Abraxas)and the Earth Club Factory (a unique breakfast/lunch bistro, hostel, apothecary and bulk food store). Both places locals hang everyday for chats and socializing.
Dining Out: 2 food option are available Thursday through Sunday. Takeout near you and the Chuck Wagon (some weekends).
There are occasional pop up food nights at each community hall or by Pun’s Thai food truck.
The farmers market on Saturday is another great source for snacks and food. The farmers market is also the the social scene on Saturday mornings, we all take a break from the chores of the property and go down for snacks and chitchats.
There are many musical nights on Denman, there is a high chance you’ll experience some type of concert or jam session while here. So many talented musicians reside and visit here regularly. We are beginning to do concerts at our farm as well.
There is a strong possibility when you visit you may encounter whales! Either Orca or Humpback swim the waters around us frequently and there are sightings regularly if not daily at times. The fishing is world class as well. Sea lions, seals and otters are also around constantly!
If you are into birding, our ferry coming to denman has many purple martin nesting boxes. Their calls are so beautiful first thing in the morning while the sun is rising. Tons of other bird to watch and see in this area of the world as well. -

Your help will keep our active homestead thriving. Depending on the season, the help will entail assembling a greenhouse, tending to our 40-ish chickens, growing/expanding the garden, weeding, other home tasks, painting, preserving food (canning, dehydrating), planting an orchard etc. We will share the tasks with you quite a bit and also would like to be able to delegate tasks to be completed while we are at work or otherwise busy. The motorhome on our property is used for friends and family to stay when visiting. We do not do short term rentals and our workaway guests will not be asked to help host guests.
When you aren't helping, we want you to enjoy the island life! We have paddleboards, a kayak, and bicycles you are welcome to use, and we love taking our guests out on the boat occasionally for adventures on the water. There are also plenty of hikes and outdoor spaces to hang.
Living on Denman Island means being deeply connected to our community and local ecosystem, where water sustainability is a critical priority for the entire community. We rely heavily on rain catchment and cistern use, therefore conscious water conservation is a fundamental part of daily life here. To help protect this resource we try to rinse off in the lakes in the summer as much as possible and forego daily showers. We welcome guests who understand this limitation and are comfortable without taking long hot showers on a daily basis. -

Alojamiento
We are offering our 2002 Aljo travel trailer. Inside is a comfortable queen sized bed, sitting area with desk. a small kitchen and small bathroom. The trailer is located in our field (soon to be orchard) that has sunrise views over Hornby island and the Lambert Channel that separates our islands.
Trailer Amenities:
The private guest trailer includes an indoor stove and burner. No refrigerator is inside ( this will change soon as we are working on getting more power to the field); the hosts provide a cooler and regular ice blocks and can store items inside the house freezer or refrigerator.
-Laundry Access: Guests may use the main house laundry facilities at mutually agreed-upon times.
-Recreational Gear: Guests have access to bicycles, kayak, paddleboards, and camping gear to explore the area. We use this gear also but are happy to share at agreed upon times.
-Vehicle Use: Use of a host vehicle may be permitted on a case-by-case basis for specific, pre-approved needs. This is not meant to be used regularly but accommodations can be made if discussed and terms are agreed upon.
Gear Safety, Liability & Care
-Safety Equipment: Hosts provide Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs), helmets, and other mandatory safety gear. Guests are strictly required to use this safety equipment whenever using the recreational gear.
-Liability Disclaimer: The hosts are not responsible or liable for the guest's personal safety, injuries, or accidents while biking, kayaking, paddleboarding, camping, or engaging in any other recreational activities. Guests use all equipment at their own risk.
-Property Care & Responsibility: No upfront damage deposit is required. However, the guest explicitly agrees to treat all host property, gear, and accommodation with respect and care.
-Loss or Damage Agreement: In the event that any gear, tools, or property are lost or severely damaged due to negligence, the guest agrees to be financially responsible for replacing or repairing the item.
Meal Sharing & Kitchen Use
Prepared Meals: The hosts will cook and provide shared meals at least 3 days a week. Ideally the guest will enjoy communal meals and will also cook some throughout the week. We love hosting friend's for dinner, this is how we socialize on Denman.
Pantry Essentials: Hosts supply basic pantry staples for independent cooking.
Garden Bounty : The guests are welcome to share in the bounty of the garden and from the chickens.
Local Food Sourced: Most meat that we eat here is sourced from our neighbour’s or friend’s farms on Denman Island. We also catch our own seafood.
Specialty Items: Any specific dietary or luxury items must be bought by the guest.
Reasonable Requests: The hosts will try to accommodate basic preferences within reason, but cannot fund custom grocery lists.
Weekend Highlights: Weekend mornings often feature large, host-cooked breakfasts or Eggs Benedict on Annie’s homemade sourdough.
Shared Dining & Flexibility: Ideally, hosts and guests eat evening meals together. The guest must remain flexible, as hosts normally cook nightly but are not contractually obligated to do so.
We have a lively animal family that we can't wait for you to meet! Because we live on a farm, we have a few safety and pack rules:
Maximus (Max): Our large Great Pyrenees. As a guardian breed, he takes his job seriously. He is getting calmer in his old age and is generally pretty nice now, but we still need clear boundaries. He is not the type of dog that needs hugging or loving unless it is from me. For everyone else, he just likes an occasional head pat or ear rub before moving on. We know exactly what he is comfortable with, so we will do a proper introduction when you arrive and supervise him until he accepts you. Once you are part of the pack, he will fiercely protect you just like the rest of us!
Alün: Cami's German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix, who is absolutely the sweetest.
The Felines: Two cats named Otto and Kitty B, who roam around the property. They are very friendly and will likely visit you at the trailer often if you want them to!

Algo más...
Hi! Welcome to our Farm
We are so excited to welcome you to our piece of paradise! My partner Annie and I live here, along with our close friend and tenant, Cami. We are all immigrants to Canada (Shaun and Annie originally from Indianapolis, IN and Camila from Santiago, Chile) that are all slowly approaching 40. We enjoy meeting and welcoming new people into our world. We are at a point that we welcome help at our property but also very much enjoy making new connections and friends and thought this would be a great way to share our beautiful world with others and benefit from the help of more hands. We are hoping to find a single traveler, couple, or 2 friends for the space. Teenagers or older children would be considered but with our dog, small children are best to stay elsewhere.
If you are looking for a peaceful retreat, Denman Island is the perfect place. It is a wonderfully quiet, slow-paced sanctuary where you can truly unplug. We are a very artsy, close-knit community with no fast-food restaurants or corporate shops. Living here requires a bit of self-sufficiency, but it is an absolute paradise for those who love nature, the ocean, and everything else this area of the world has to offer.
There are so many things to do on Vancouver Island or on the Gulf Islands. We are happy to show you around or point you in whatever direction needed to fill your cup! Let’s chat and see if this would be a good fit for everyone involved! -
