My family and I live on a beautiful 2.5 hectare farm in the countryside in Lot-et-Garonne, close to the border of Gironde and Dordogne. It's 3 kms to the local village of Duras, which has a supermarket, shops and restaurants; just over an hour from Bordeaux and 40 minutes from Bergerac.
During the autumn, winter and spring, (end of October - mid-May), we have space to offer to Workawayers. We would be grateful for some assistance with cooking, cleaning, organising, gardening and some small scale DIY projects.
During the summer our cottages are rented to holidaymakers.
My husband and I are originally from New Zealand and Australia. We have two children aged 11 and 9 years old. We have chickens, two cats and a small dog on the farm, and there may be cows in the neighbouring field.
I run a busy company online. My husband is a writer. We have travelled widely, and are interested in current affairs, the Arts, music and writing. We enjoy meeting and talking to people from different countries.

We enjoy having wide-ranging discussions with people from all over the world. We speak English as a first language, and some French. We are happy to help guests with their English and would love to improve our French! The history and culture of the region we live in is a fascinating one. We live 3 kilometres from Duras and its 12th century chateau. There are many other historic towns and villages in our region, and lots of local markets and festivals.

We’re mainly looking for help around the house with everyday tasks. If you enjoy cooking and could prepare a meal or two during your stay, that would be very much appreciated. As the weather improves, there may also be some light gardening to do. Any DIY skills would be a real bonus and warmly welcomed.

In return, we provide comfortable accommodation, all meals, and a small amount of pocket money.

  • Alojamiento

    Alojamiento

You would have your own self-contained cottage with a kitchen and bathroom.
We can also provide food. We can share meals, or if you have special dietary requirements you may prefer to cook for yourself. We eat most things, with an emphasis on healthy, locally produced food. (I like going to local markets.) In the cottage where you would be staying there is Fibre Optic internet, a Smart TV, Bluetooth speaker, electric heaters and an electric blanket on the bed.

    Algo más...

We live in the countryside in a lovely part of Lot-et-Garonne, right on the edge of Gironde and Dordogne. The area is made up of rolling hills, fields, forests, and pretty villages, and it’s a very peaceful place to be.

There are abundant local markets and plenty of things to do outdoors, including cycling, horse riding, canoeing, and lots of great walks. We’re just over an hour from Bordeaux, the nearest train station is about 20 minutes away, and the closest shops are only 3 kilometres from the house.

Some of our past Workawayers have been keen walkers. Having your own car is helpful but not essential, and we’re happy to lend a bicycle if needed. We don’t have a charging point for electric cars at the house, but there is one in the nearby village.
