Descripción
Hi! My name is Jozi/Josephine, and I live in Port Hardy on North Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. I’m a busy mom raising two boys while balancing work, family life, and community commitments. I love being outdoors, cooking good food, spending time with my kids, and creating welcoming spaces.
My life is very family and land based. I enjoy language and cultural work, camping, outdoor adventures, and building community connections.
This summer I’ll be away a lot running land-based programming, so I’m hoping to connect with someone who enjoys dogs and would appreciate a quieter North Island lifestyle.
My roommate works long hours at the local airport, especially during summer. He is quiet, respectful, and not home much. We’ve lived together for about a year and a half and have always worked together caring for our dogs and keeping a comfortable home.
Dogs are a big part of our lives. In 2026 we fostered 26 dogs together — and each ended up foster-failing one of our own. So our dogs are very used to having different dogs stay with us. We are not currently fostering any doggies.
We’re hoping to find someone who would genuinely benefit from having a comfortable place to stay while helping out with the dogs and sharing a respectful, mutually supportive living space.
Our home is close to the ocean, forests, and amazing outdoor spaces. We value kindness, communication, and creating situations where everyone benefits.

I am Kwakiutl & Mamalilikulla, and love sharing the history & hidden gems of the north island. I belong to the local reservation and can always point people in the right direction or person for information on what ever they are interested in. My roommate is very immersed in my indigenous community and can share a lot of information and connections as well.

Ayuda
We are hoping to find someone who genuinely enjoys having dogs in their lives. Our girls are so giving too. They will never turn down snuggles, pets, or an adventure. They are also good to be on their own during the day. But we aim to have them out for a good exercise in the morning and evening.

Alojamiento
I have two rooms available. My own personal room: King sized bed, lots of mirrors (closet doors are mirrors) and a small room with a desk, twin sized bed and closet available. Our cupboards are stocked well with staples and almost everything is open to sharing.

Animals would be based on how they get along with our own dogs. Our dogs are used to other animals :)

Winnie
Winnie is our foster fail, as we knew our home was the best fit for her. Her sister Gigi doesn't always bond to others easily and the way she bonded to Winnie there was no way Terry could let her go. She survived two winters in the wild Sask. Her fearfullness never comes out in reactivity, she will shut down and hide if she is triggered. She doesn't like big sounds of metel, things falling, slamming or yelling. Of course these things can't always be avoided so she just needs some reassurance shes safe and loved. She can get pouty when her dad and sister are away and go lay on their bed waiting for them. She has come so far from who she was when she entered our home. She is the fastest of all our dogs and has the most stamina for adventure. She has almost curbed her prey drive, she is getting so close. She sometimes barks at other dogs, but it is all bark and no bite. She is soooooo socialized and kind.
Anaya (1 año)
Anaya is a very friendly girl with both humans and other pets, she is recently discovering her husky voice and it always comes with a complete surprise because of how quiet she is!! She has endless energy, amazing recall, no medical coniditons or allergies. She is a perfect adventure companion.
Chase (7 años)
Chasey is the snuggliest, and has no love that could be filled. She will always take more snuggles and love. Chase has pretty progressive arthritis. She takes medicational orally daily but is very used to the regime so doesn't put up a fight at all. She can be leash reactive, but hardly needs to use a leash as she has the best recall and doesn't like to leave her human friends side.
