Our stay 3 week stay here was so enjoyable! Stella is a very knowledgeable homesteader and has a great eye for detail that shows in the beautiful land that she is tending. The work tasks were fixing up a greenhouse, building compost piles, sanding and staining door trims. We even got to help build a super cool outdoor bathtub frame!

It was cold during our stay but she went out of her way to make sure we stayed warm at night with a heater and a wood stove, very sweet.

Me and my Partner Jordan had such a great time at Stella's homestead. The place has a magical charm that I could feel almost instantly when we arrived and it was such a joy to be there with 3 others workawayers. We ended up staying almost one month and got to experience so much whilst we were there. The local community of William's is also very
… read more special and welcoming, we felt comfortable participating in pancake breakfasts, local protests, ecstatic dance and the famous corn dance. It's the type of place that's very hard to leave so be careful. We also appreciated the variety of tasks, no two days were the same. Stella is such a warm and kind person and our time there was one of the highlights of our trip through Canada and the US. We hope to be back some day!

Stella's homestead was the dream! I just did a quick stint there but got to do some satisfying tasks and met an awesome person and pup! Definitely will be coming back at some point. Sella was great at checking in, communicating, and trusting with independence.

I was also lucky enough to receive some bodywork from Zoe and this gal is the real deal. She is a healer through and through and holds such deep and connected space. They have become family and I have stayed in touch with them over the months since they left. I adore them to pieces.

… read more cooking in the outdoor kitchen. I was there in mid May and most of the early season work was bed prep, which was awesome to do barefoot and with music playing across the plants. All the accommodation was perfect and the surrounding areas were beautiful to run and hike in. I also very much enjoyed the company of the other two live-ons, the occasional meals we shared together, and many laughs over the days. Hope to cross paths down the trail again!

She is an absolute gem of a human, she was only intending to come for a couple weeks that easily turned into over a month. Sophie carries a strong spirit. While she showed up only having a bit of experience with farming/gardening
… read more , I always had an innate trust in who she was even if she didn't have the skills yet. She went through a pretty big learning curve with farm tasks, but always remained open for feedback, which means a lot, (and now is a master waterer ;). I would trust her with baby starts anyday :). Her dedication to her yoga practice inspired me to get on the mat more.
She helped with the farmers market booth and was an absolute charm, both organized, aware and genial with the "crowd". Towards the end of her stay I shifted gears and had her helping me to design a logo and labels for the herbal product line. And WOW! She is an incredible graphic designer! After she she left, I have hired her on to finish out the labels and continue working with me on this front. (If anyone needs design work done, do not hesitate to get in touch with her). I adore Sophie and what came out the other side of her stay here is a special friendship.

Johanna and Chris are wonderful.
They are an easy going couple with inspiring and incredible stories from their travels. When they first came they only intended to stay for two weeks but ended up staying over a month! They are sweet and grounded and hard workers with willing hearts.
When things did come up that needed communication they were easy

They helped with so many different tasks around the property and almost always did it with a smile and enthusiasm for whatever it was they were working on. They added so much value to the land and to projects that I was working on, many days giving more without me asking for it.
I would be pleasantly surprised walking around the property to find their sweet touches, they took initiative to make labels for the compost pile and the shower. They helped me with my farmers market stand (Chris is great at systems and math and streamlined the money calculations for me ;). They also even made bread one week that they sold at market which was a huge success. Everyone wanted them to stay and keep selling.
They easily became part of the community here and I would highly recommend them to whoever is considering hosting.

Finally we get to write some lines about our time on Stellas farm. We intended to stay two weeks on Stella's Farm but ended up stayed more than a month. All the while we stayed in the little Gypsy Wagon, which has electricity and a bed for two people. The outdoor kitchen, outdoor shower and compost toilet are simple but have their charme. Stella
… read more provided the basics of food, like beans, rice, oats, etc. and depending on how much we worked she added some treats :) Stella is very caring, she really wants you to have a good time with every task you do and have happy vibes on her property, so it was a good opportunity to learn how to directly speak about things that weren't working for one of us.
We had a huge variety of tasks, as in spring many things want to be done or started. We did lots of weeding, weed whacking, mowing as well as planting seeds, planting starts into the beds, cleaning the chicken coop, transplanting bamboo, a little bit of painting and much more. Depending on the work there could be quite exhausting days but also days that were fairly relaxing. When we first came we worked 4h a day for 6 days a week, Sunday is always off. Later we worked 5-6h but were given some extra food.
We learned a lot regarding gardening and Stella was happy to tell us about her medicinal herbs. The property is beautiful, with the little pond, the forest, the temple, the veggi garden, the chickens and the village Williams is indeed special, as it is placed in a green and scenic valley, surrounded by mountains. We had the chance to go to the monthly pancake breakfast, been to some yard sales, a Reggae festival and Stella had a little garden party one evening with friends. The farmers market on Monday is always worth a visit, we helped Stella to sell some starts and one monday even sold bread we baked, so we met many really friendly people.
Its been beautiful to see the garden change from a sort of wild looking garden to a garden blooming with flowers, every bed visible and the lettuce and strawberries getting ready to be harvested.
Stella, we thank you again for all that you taught us and that we had the chance for so much inspiration for our own garden, some day :) for the future we wish you wonderful workawayers, good harvests and inspiring people around you. Its fascinating how you manage everything on your own.

Wow! Gregory is amazing! He came to help me replace the transmission in the old farm truck. He spent countless hours everyday working away at it, doing research, making multiple trips to town, coordinating borrowing tools from my neighbor down the road (who he quickly became friends with). … read more done or probably ever will. He had to leave and didn't finish the job before needing to go so came back a week and a half later (driving hundreds of miles out of his way), to finish it. He is competent, dedicated and and of strong work ethic.
He carries a magic and lightness to his being that brings everyone up around him. Synchronicities and reminders of the universal ease and support follow him around like a cloud of sunshine. He is easy to be around, enjoying himself no matter who he is with or what he is doing. Even full of grease and a hard days work.
He has definitely become family!

Wow I had such a great time at Stella's land. So magical and beautiful. There's something about that place (and Williams too) that triggers a lot of personal emotional/spiritual work, that makes look within and go inwards. … read more outdoors but while the weather allows it, it's beautiful to be outside all the time. I had a pretty spacious tent with a nice carpet inside and a small table. It was surrounded by pine trees and you could see different birds everyday and squirrels jumping from tree to tree overhead. The outdoor kitchen is very complete and beautiful. The same with the outdoor shower... showering while watching sunset over the mountains, my favorite part of the day!
She gives you all staples, veggies from the garden, eggs from the chickens. You'll have to buy stuff like milk, butter or whatever things of preference you want. There's a market about 10 minutes bike ride.
The land has a lot of potential and Stella is very open to listen to new ideas that might improve her place.
When I was there it was mainly gardening, landscaping, composting.... lounging :)
I will always remember my time there!! And I know I'll go back for visit!!
