Hello! We are a family (Peter 40, Svetlana 41, Anouk 8, Minou 6) living near to the wonderful town of Marburg. In 2023 we got the chance to buy an old house on the countryside with a big garden and a very big old barn. The first year we renovated the house and now time has come to start with projects in the garden and in the other buildings of the old farm. We speak German, English and Portugues (from Brazil - Peter) as well as Russian (Sveta) and some Spanish should work also. We like to cook different meals (can be vegetarian and also with meat) and use fresh vegetables. We are a non-smoking family and have no pets living in the house so far (maybe a dog could be a plan). We are not able ton instruct you or to share a lot of professional knowledge in terms of gardening or handicraft but offer a wide range of possible things to do which can lead to a nice mix and varying actions. You will also be able to use a bicycle to get to know the place/region on little trips and to be mobile without depending on us to much. If necessary and trustful it is also possible to use our car for a better mobility. We have also good train connections to the city of Frankfurt/Main (about 1 hour by train) and our hilly region is rich of woods, rivers and historical villages.

We are an openminded family and like to travel by bike in our holidays. We also host bike-travelers at our place from time to time using other travelling platforms. In terms of meeting people from across the world we are always happy to share experiences and get into conversations. This is one important aspect of getting to know other cultures, traditions, and approaches to life. We are quite familiar with the region we live in and like to go on little trips into nature on weekends also enjoying local cafés and restaurants.
The city of Marburg with about 25.000 students is a dense spot for events such as arts and music with a nice alternative and independent scene. This is inviting for many visits - including a very special old town and interesting architecture.

We have many things to do and sometimes don´t know where to begin to make our home a nicer place to stay. At the moment we have lots of tasks to do to prepare the garden. We want to grow more and more vegetables and fruits and make the garden a good place for people and animals. Especially my wife could spend ages outside on weekends preparing things for a flourishing garden. Other actual projects/plans are to build a sauna (is in progress) and a summer kitchen to use for cooking near the garden during the warmer period. We want to build also a terrace and a pergola near to our fire-place.
Who likes can also help repairing some walls of the barn or pimp the whole barn to use it for parties e.g. We plan to build up a nice wood workshop for all kinds of projects - we also love to upcycle for example old furniture or wooden pallets. Of course, we are happy to get support with cooking. Who likes can also repair things like bicycles.
Since we are at work from 8am until at least 3pm you should be also fine with spending some time on your own and start helping/doing things according to plans we make together.
We do not expect professional skills in any of the things we do. I am social worker (social youth work) and my wife Svetlana is geographer (assistance for the major of Marburg). We also learn the things by doing it and help ourselves with online tutorials and video demonstrations. But we have many tools and lots of space to work with joy on project. And of course we are happy to learn from you in case you bring some knowledge we can benefit from and you like to share!

We have a spare room with some basic furniture (bed and new mattress, two windows, space for private things) in the house (about 15 qm) and one bathroom + additional toilet to share. The room could get a bit more cozy, but so far, we had no time really to care about that (could be a project to start with for guests;-) Second opportunity is to live in a little caravan in the garden. So far, we have no toilet/washing room outside, but it is possible to use all facilities in the house of course. Normally we have a warm meal for dinner together. During the week me and my wife are working in Marburg until 3pm/6pm. Our place is located in the little village called Kleinseelheim (near Marburg) which has a good public transport connection to Marburg - a nice historical city with about 80.000 inhabitants and a famous university.

Especially the City of Marburg has a lot to offer. Svetlana knows the city very well and could give good recomandations;-) You will find museums, cinemas, bars and event locations as well as theater and good restaurants. Also the countryside is nice for hiking, canoeing or cycling. Next to our village is a city on top of an old vulcano (Amöneburg) which is nice for a walk with a nice view on the landscape. During the season it is nice to collect mushrooms in the woods.
