Am Muhereza, i was born in a family of eight sisters and two brothers of which we all survived childhood, education was not easy with such a big family thus our parents struggled to ensure that we attain any level of education .
Am always thankful to my brother Agaba Jasper who helped me by paying school fees for me in advanced level, my level of education is Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) certificate.
My ambition of starting the project came in me when i was in primary five after seeing the challenges i was facing and my fellow students at school of being chased every now and then because of school fees and sometimes we would fail to go to school because of failure to have food to carry with us for lunch at school. It was out of the above information and more that i decided to start a project in future such that i see if communities and needy children can get help from my project.

My project is a community based foundation giving 100% to support education and agriculture in Kakooko village and other areas around Lake bunyonyi and beyond depending on the capacity of the project.
The project started in 2013 dealing with farming until last year when we started a nursery school to ensure that young kids also attain education.

Imagine how important it would be to volunteer with us in Lake bunyonyi the second deepest Lake in Africa after Tanganyika with clean water free from Bilhazia and wild animals like Crocodiles, many people who have visited Lake bunyonyi have really enjoyed it in terms of swimming and canoeing. The place of so many wonders and miracles..talk of the punishment island "Akampene" where unmarried pregnant ladies were taken to starve and die because it was not allowed to get pregnant before marriage.
We would as well take you to see the black smiths, the pygmies. You will as well get a chance to visit the mountain gorillas, chimpanzee, tree climbing lions, golden monkeys and many more the region has for you (this will depend on someone's budget).

While volunteering with us, you will get a chance to witness our memorable extraordinary traditional dance that can't let anyone sitting or standing other than joining the move.

By volunteering with us itself is an experience, Travellers will learn our language "Rukiga" from the community members which will help them to communicate with the locals since few people here especially the elderly speak English. They can as well witness how people here sometimes use herbs to cure some diseases without going to the hospital which is not the same case in their home countries.
Through interacting with the local people here, they will learn to know how their way of living defer from ours.

I want travellers to help me in teaching kids swimming, English, mathematics as well as organising fundraisings to support the project programmes. I also want them to help me in introducing modern methods of farming and also bring new breeds of seedlings to be planted here. I also want travellers help me in sensitising people about dangers of HIV and AIDS as well as giving advice to the people living with it.

Our volunteers will be staying at the project which is near the lake, our accommodations are made of thatched grasses on top and eucalyptus trees, they are very comfortable as they are built locally for the travellers to see how people here sometimes back used to build their homes. It is smeared with lime which made it very beautiful!!

We shall provide local food for our volunteers like beans, ground nuts, dodos, avocados, Irish potatoes, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, matooke and others. We shall not provide special foods like pizzas, meat and among others. We shall request our volunteers to look for special foods in the hotels around since they are very near to the project though i will take the responsibility to take them their.

  • Algo más...

    Algo más...

Volunteers can do a lot of activities when they are off work with available transport:-
They can visit the pygmies using a motorboat, visit the punishment island "Akampene" where unmarried pregnant ladies were taken to starve and die, visit the black smiths, visit the hot spring, tour around the islands of lake bunyonyi, visit the mountain gorillas, tree climbing lions, Murchison falls, Queen Elizabeth National Park for chimpanzees and many more.

I like living the life of playing football, playing and having funs with the kids, hiking and visiting the elderly and hear some stories (story telling) about how things used to be sometimes back like how people used to put on hides instead of clothes.
