Hello, my name is William Bwambale! I was born in and grew up in the Kasese district in western Uganda- East Africa. I am a tour guide across Uganda and a passionate wildlife conservation activist. I studied wildlife and tourism management at the Uganda Wildlife Research and Training Institute. This is when my passion started to grow.

The rural district of Kasese is one of the most beautiful in Uganda. We are blessed to be nested in the middle of several national parks, including the Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Rwenzori Mountains National Park. Also located within the district are the equator line, hot springs, falls, rivers and lakes.
Despite this natural beauty, Kasese is also one of the most struggling areas in Uganda. This is why I felt compelled to create a nonprofit making organization (Citizens Dream Relief Initiative, which later gave birth to our school), an organization that is community-focused.

    Projects
    1. Dreamers Legacy Care School
This project focuses on making education accessible to children from poorer communities. We offer free education to all children, especially those who are underprivileged or have dropped out of school, for example, young mothers.
We do not ask for school fees but only a small financial contribution for breakfast porridge which we provide at school. Still, this is not affordable for many parents.
In addition to delivering a Ugandan education curriculum, we want to provide the children with life-changing skills. These include tailoring, arts and craft design, ICT and digital training, catering, music and drama, conservation and environmental protection knowledge, etc.
We also want to inspire our children to be good people and change-makers. Our motto is “Dream big and live a glorious life!” because we believe that when dreamers become doers, they can change the whole world.

    2. Community Support - Food Sustainability and Garden
This project focuses on educating and giving families in the local community the skills they need to sustain themselves. We have achieved this by growing different species of trees and giving them to community members for free. We help them to set up their own gardens with our seeds and trees and we provide training and ongoing support. We also educate the parents on how to feed themselves and their children a nutritional and varied diet. This has meant families eat a better diet and can make income from selling their harvest.

    Our Achievements
    Dreamers Legacy Care School
We opened the school in February 2024 and enrolled 230 children aged 3 to 16, from kindergarten section to primary 5. We have 16 employees. We have built 4 classroom blocks, toilets, running water, a water tank, and a playground where they can play football, netball,, or other sports.
We have planted grass and trees to keep the school compound green and fresh. We have also started a vegetable garden and greenhouse with different vegetables and planted fruit trees. We also have some goats and chicken.

    Community Project
We have distributed food to the community members, especially the elderly people, after each harvest.
We have given over 5000 trees to families in the community, and we hope that soon we will see a big forest in our community.
We have fundraised 3 public water taps which people in the village can use freely to have clean water. This means they no longer have to travel long distances to access drinking water.

    Our Next Goals
Despite these achievements, we still have work to do. Our next goals are:
    • Build 4 more school buildings. This includes 3 more classrooms so we can provide education up to primary 7. Also, a main school multipurpose hall for examinations, services, and other ceremonies.
    • Build a boarding house for primary 6 and 7 students. Studying for their final primary school certificate is very demanding, and the children need to be at school to have less distraction and a better chance of success.
    • Building on-site accommodation for teachers. Many teachers currently live in Kasese which is 13 km away from school. These transportation expenses are heavy on the school budget.
    • Building a bigger greenhouse. This will help us provide more food for the school and community.
    • Starting a goat project. This will include raising goats at school to give away baby goats to local families
    • Applying for grants. Currently, our main source of cash is fundraising and income from our founder. If we successfully apply for a grant, we will have a more reliable income and can secure the future of the school.
    Challenges
There are many challenges facing our project. Local poverty and cultural mindset keep a lot of children out of school, and some parents don't see the necessity of their children having an education. Our district has the highest rate of young girls’ pregnancy. We need to give the children a safe and supportive environment where they can get an education and a chance to escape poverty.

We are always looking for people to support our projects, and local help is scarce.
I'm driven to help the local communities in Kasese who strive for a better future. Thus, I'm looking for people to come and join me to make it happen. Volunteers can make a huge difference in our community. They can bring fresh ideas and perspectives and inspire our students.

If you choose to join us, I would be glad to show you the beauty of Kasese, the gem of the Pearl of Africa, and its surroundings using all my professional skills and knowledge.
    Mwasingya (thank you).
