  Hello, my name is Catherine. I bought this property in October 2021, with my now ex-partner. We started living and having workawayers help us with projects during summer 2023. So a little bit about me: I am from Montreal, and have lived there all my life. I studied environmental sciences at university and am an environmentalist at heart. I am now a massage therapist, specialized in thai massage! I love everything about plants and trees! And I love to teach people about them (what I know).
  The property is a very special place to me. It has a river crossing it. We do live very close to the road, but the bulk of the property is on the other side of the river, and behind the forest too, so we have some form of intimacy :)
  It is very rustic. There is no running water, we pump water by hand from the river and store it in a rain barrel and use it this way...! (to be improved maybe)
  There are solar pannels, so we can work the power tools and charge our phones and computers. and have lighting. and a mini fridge! We have service on the property, but no internet. Although we are quite close to a camping site where there is access to a shower, washing machine and internet. I will also be working at the local pub, 7 minutes away by car, and have access to a shower and washing machine there as well :)
  This is just a little run through so you know what to expect! It is truly a magical place.

  I want the people who come to live a great experience. I will encourage the discovery of the region and what nature has to offer (fishing, picking mushrooms and wild plants, food processing, etc.) as well as the local culture, which is booming in the summer!! Help will depend on weather conditions, tides, and priorities.
  
  Je veux que les personnes qui vont venir nous aider vivent une superbe expérience. J'encourage la découverte de la région et de ce que la nature a à proposer (pêche, cueillette de champignons et plantes sauvages, transformation de nourriture, etc..) ainsi que la culture locale, qui est vraiment extraordinaire l'été!!
  Le travail dépendra des conditions météorologiques, des marées, et des priorités.
  La nourriture sera fournie et nous pourrons cuisiner ensemble ou séparément selon les moments et envies.

  Ajuda

  This is going to be year 2 on the property, so a little bit has been done already: we built a cabin, we created a space for the garden, we made an outdoor toilet, and a lot more!
  This year the projects are:
  - Building a platform for the bell tent
  - Finish the cabin: building a deck at the front, stairs, add roofing tiles at the front and on the sides to protect from the rain, add a floor, and of course little creative projects to make it beautiful and unique!
  - Make the garden bigger/better. And all that goes along with gardening: planting seedlings, weeding, watering, strategies to defeat the slugs...!
  - Improve water gathering/ water management/ dishwashing
  - Picking of wild plants and mushrooms (learning too)
  - Make a solar dehydrator
  - Help with making meals
  - This is also a space for imagining a way to live well, so any ideas and projects are welcome :)
  
  
  Cet été sera l'année 2 du terrain! Beaucoup de travail a été fait l'été dernier: construction d'une cabane en bois, défrichage pour jardin, toilette extérieur, et bien plus!
  Cette année, les projets sont:
  -Construction d'une plateforme en bois pour mettre la tente bell dessus
  -Terminer la cabane: construire une plateforme à l'avant, des escaliers, rallonger le toit à l'avant et sur les côtés pour protéger de la pluie, rajouter un plancher. et projets créatifs pour la rendre belle et unique!!
  - Agrandissement du jardin et tout ce qui concerne jardinage: planter semis, désherbages, arrosage, stratégie pour anéantir les limaces..!
  - Amélioration de l'approvisionnement en eau/ gestion de l'eau/ faire la vaisselle
  - Cuieillette sauvage (plantes et champignons)
  - Amélioration des chemins ou l'on marche
  - Faire un déshydrateur solaire
  - Aider pour préparer les repas
  - Je veux aussi offrir un espace de vie agréable à vivre, alors touts les idées et projets sont les bienvenus!

  Acomodação

  There will be a bell tent* and a trailer as well as camping platforms for tents. It is possible to shower at the campsite located 2km away or in the river...! There is also a small cabin available to share.
  
  We'll provide the food needed, we'll take breakfasts, dinners and suppers together unless the helpers want is differently but there will be food available. I don't really eat meat but if you want some it can be arranged.
  
  
  Il y aura une tente bell* et un trailer aménagé sur le terrain ainsi que des plateformes de camping pour des tentes.
  Il est possible de se doucher au camping situé a 2km ou dans la rivière...! Il y a aussi une petite cabane qui a été construite l'année passée, possible pour partager
  
  On va prévoir la nourriture pour les déjeuners, dîners et soupers, et on peut soit prendre les repas ensembles ou séparés, on va décider de la structure qui nous plaît! Je ne cuisine pas beaucoup de viande, mais on s'adaptera aux désirs des gens présents.

  Algo mais...

  The town of rivière-au-renard is 8km away, and we have 2 bikes available to move around as well as my car. The town of gaspé is about a 15 min drive and is the biggest town around. They have farmers market every saturday morning which we will go to! We are 300m from one of the entries of parc Forillon which is the SIA as well. We have a canoe available for outings! There are also many rivers around that are fun to explore.
  
  Le village de rivière au renard est a 8km, il y a deux vélos pour y accéder ou la voiture si besoin. La ville de Gaspé est à environ 15 min de route, et c'est le plus gros village. Il y aura les marchés touts les samedis matin.
  Nous sommes a 300m de l'entrée du parc de Forillon avec le sentier international des Appalaches.
  Nous avons un canot de disponible aussi. Il y a plein de rivières dans les environs à explorer!
