  Our farm is located in the countryside, an hour and 30 minutes by bus from Japan Railways Nagasaki Station. It is a quiet place on a mountainside with a wonderful view over Omura Bay and the sound of birdsong. We run an apiary and open a weekend honey shop and cafe.
  　We are currently starting a project to create a food forest consisting of a sustainable orchard and vegetable patch. We are looking for workawayers to contribute to the construction of this food forest.
  　We are offering the workawayer a comfortable shower and room, three meals, beekeeping and farming experience and exposure to Japanese family culture in exchange for the workawayer working five hours a day on the farm. No wages are paid, so a working holiday visa is not required.
  
  　Farm and beekeeping varies greatly depending on the season and weather. You also need to be flexible with the weather and season rather than always doing what you are supposed to do at a set time. Sudden schedule changes are common, sometimes starting early in the morning and sometimes lasting well into the night.
  
  　The work environment differs depending on the season.
  December/January/February, it is winter, and there is very little bee care. There may be hive repairs, hive frame preparation and beeswax candle making. On the farms, there is work to be done, such as building new fields and planting fruit trees.
  
  March/ April, spring is in the air, flowers are blooming, and it is time to start looking after the bees. This includes moving, feeding and splitting bee hives. On the farms, there is work such as preparing the fields and planting seedlings.
  
  May/June is a very busy time of year, as it is early summer, when the bees are in full swing and the colony is multiplying. May is also the month of many festive events, and we set up a honey shop hut.
  June is the start of the wet season, with very hot and humid days. In the farms, mowing begins and management becomes busy.
  
  July,/August/September are the height of summer and July is still the rainy season. Temperatures and humidity are high, and it is difficult to work during the midday, so we get up very early in the morning and mow the grass while it is still cool. In the evenings, when it is cooler, the farm is managed by mowing. In beekeeping, hornets start to attack honeybees in August, so we take measures to prevent this. We cut the grass for two hours from 6 am and two hours from 4 pm. During the afternoon we rest and have free time.
  
  October/November: the work includes managing the mowing of the farm. In beekeeping, we feed the bees and take measures to prevent hornets in preparation for winter.
  
  Your living conditions with us are below.
  A) We treat you as family members.
  B) Please contribute 5 hours daily, 5 days a week.
  C) We provide a private room for a couple.
  If you are a gentleman or lady, we might ask you to share with others of the same gender.
  D) You can use a separate shower room.
  E) We have an outdoor wooden sauna that we can enjoy sometimes.
  D) You can share internet access with us.
  
  Below are our STRICT requirements for Workawayers.
  These are based on our lifestyle.
  1) 24 years old or older
  2) Stay for at least one week
  3) Non-smoker
  4) We do not accept workawayers with special dietary requirements such as
  vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free.
  　 Even if it is for health or religious reasons.
  5) No animal allergies. Because we have a dog.
  6) No tattoos.

  The farm is located in a remote suburban area of Nagasaki's city center. Nearest bus stop is 20minutes walk from our house. The view from our house and farm is stunning, you can immerse yourself in nature. But it is difficult to make many friends here. It is a day trip to Nagasaki's city center. If you go to Shimabara or Unzen, we recommend you to plan a two days trip. You can have 2 days of leave after 5 working days. Arrival day and leaving day are not counted as working days.
