Currently, we are on a new chapter in our lives…the “transition” chapter — figuring out who we are “AFTER…”
As much as I loved running my own business and working with children, when COVID hit, I felt how much the world was hurting and I knew in my heart it was time for me to move on to other things…I felt I could do more for the world but couldn’t do it from in the water.
So last year, I sold my family-run 20 year old swim school, FLOW Aquatics, to free me up to discover who else I was besides a mom (of a 21 son and 18 year old daughter), a wife, a swim school owner, a boss, a coach. And…instead of taking the time to sit and discover…I hopped right into trying to figure out what I was going to “DO” to help the world. I dove into learning multiple different healing modalities, like Theta Healing, QiGong Healing, Inner Bonding Facilitation, Water Release Therapy, and last but not least Shamanism.
All of that came to a halt at the beginning of this year. After I’d looked back on the last 30 years of my “working” life, I realized I’d never stopped. I was tired, I needed quiet, I needed stillness, and I wanted to be outdoors, close to nature, travel, learn, and explore places I’d never seen. And I really wanted to do it with my husband. BUT…he still had a JOB.
Jeremy was previously in management at Les Schwab Tire Center for 22 years - A “Man’s Man World” — a tough as bricks job. 8 years ago, when we met, he realized he needed to stop or his health, both physical and mental, would suffer. So he took the leap of faith, and dove head first into the very opposite world of children and swimming and came on board at my Swim School helping with everything from pool maintenance, to finances, to customer service.
Since I sold the business, he has been working as a jack of all trades at a children’s activity center. In other words…he fixed what ever was broken and did what ever needed to be done to make it better…even if it wasn’t in his job description, like driving buses with preschoolers on them. He is otherwise known as McGyver as he has an uncanny way of knowing how to fix almost anything. Although never having any official training, he is great with tools, can build almost anything he sets his mind to, and will figure out the best way to build it and make it last "forever" while looking beautiful to boot. He is very mechanically inclined and loves figuring out how things work. And he also ended up being the “resident” psychatrist…people just love talking to him and getting his thoughts.
Earlier this year, since I wanted to travel and he was still working, as a present to myself to celebrate my 50th year of life, I went on a 2 month road trip while my husband stayed home and worked.
By the time I got back, he had decided he was not fulfilled by his job and wanted to travel with me. We determined if we gave up our “rent” payment for our house, we would have enough money, from the swim school, to travel “mindfully.”
As of the middle of September, we are currently on an indefinite road trip, car camping and traveling throughout the United States, seeing who we are without “JOBS,” without having an agenda, and having to go 100 miles an hour.
We are currently in the process of continuing to find out what we are passionate about and what we like to do…but do know we love being free to travel where we want, when we want, for however long we want. We love being in nature, camping, meeting new people and making friends along the way.
One of our dreams is to eventually create a very small sustainable eco-village (more like a pocket neighborhood), using geodesic domes or type of simple dwelling, where people can come together as a community and teach others that you can live simply on less, but still, in comfort, be surrounded by natural beauty AND also be kind to the earth.
So our goal in joining the Workaway community is not only to reboot but to obtain as much knowledge as we can to enable this dream to come true. So excited to begin this newest chapter in our journey of life and are looking forward to the many adventures it will bring.Interesses

Shannon's Skills:
Having been an officer in the Air Force, then running her own business for the last 18 years, as well as being a mother of 2 teenagers you can give her a job and know it will be done and done well.
She hasn't had the opportunity to branch out into many trade skills, but loves children and animals. She is a fast learner, creative, good with her hands, not afraid of getting dirty and will figure it out if you point her in a direction. Good at organizing and getting things done efficiently, definitely open to constructive feedback and is an open book.
Not an expert by any means, but she is fairly good with computers and has a decent understanding of technology as she has had to do a bit of everything when it comes to marketing, building basic websites, social media etc. for her own business.
Jeremy's Skills:
Although he hasn't had technical training, he can build almost anything. You give him a project and he will not stop until it is done. He loves solving problems, being creative and making things better as well as aesthetically pleasing. He is very mechanically inclined and can figure out how almost anything works. He is a hard worker and will do whatever needs to be done.Idade
