I’m currently traveling during a gap year after working as a registered nurse in a hospital setting. My professional background has shaped me into someone who is dependable, calm under pressure, adaptable, and comfortable taking initiative.

I grew up in a rural area helping my grandparents on their small farm—mainly caring for a vegetable garden and a variety of animals—which taught me how to work independently and am comfortable with a variety of tools, albeit maybe with a little initial instruction depending on the tool.

In my free time, I am often in the outdoors. I love hiking and staying active, and gardening. For several years I kept a home garden, and I enjoy all parts of the process from planting to harvesting, cooking, and preserving. It has been remarked that I may be at my happiest with my hands in the dirt.

I’m an avid reader and a lifelong learner, and currently trying my hand at writing. During my travels this year, I’m hoping to improve my language skills, particularly in Spanish and French. I truly enjoy cultural exchange and learning through daily life with others, especially when that crosses over with language learning. Recently I completed a month of intensive Spanish lessons in Central America but still have a lot of room to grow.

I have a deep appreciation of people as groups and especially as individuals. I value listening to others’ stories, understanding different perspectives, and building genuine connections.

I’m hardworking, curious, and open-minded, and I’m always looking to learn new skills while smiling and finding joy in life along the way. Whether helping with animals, gardening, household projects, or daily tasks, I bring a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine care for the people and places I’m part of.
