Hi! We’re Marzia and Tommaso, a 25 year-old couple from Italy 🇮🇹

👩 Marzia
One of my favorite activities (besides traveling) is wandering through bookstores in search of new reads; books always lift my mood, especially travel literature. The best souvenirs I bring home from my adventures are the instant photos I take with my beloved Fujifilm cameras: shooting on film has a completely different charm, and it’s also way more fun. Waiting for me back home are my six funny little cats - Linus, Ollie, Blanco, Pepito, Flora, and Micina. My love for animals led me to become a vegetarian 7 years ago, and it’s a choice I’ve never regretted.
After graduating in communication and marketing and spending a year in an office, I realized I didn’t want to spend my life behind a desk. So now I work as a restaurant store manager and as a travel agent, a more dynamic mix, but one that still manages to stress me out sometimes 🥲

👨 Tommaso
I’m the most curious one of the two: I love technology, video games, and cinema. When I was a kid, my dad passed down to me his passion for photography, videography, and music, and they’ve been part of me ever since (I still keep my very first iPod with nostalgia, it was my partner in a thousand adventures).
I love theme parks, and in general I take fun very seriously, I often go after a bit of adventure and adrenaline. I graduated in economics and marketing, and after three (long) years in an office I realized that wasn’t my path: for me, a life that’s too stable is definitely a boring one! This sometimes creates a bit of friction with my parents, who would prefer I chose a more secure path, but isn’t that the classic generational clash? 😅

💑 Us
We’ve been together for seven years, since we first met during our last year of high school. One of the first things that brought us together was our love for travel: every time we had a few days off, we used them to go somewhere new. In recent years, this passion has grown so much that we started our own social channels and a blog to share our backpacking adventures. Over the past few months, we’ve saved as much as possible, knowing that every expense we cut would allow us to travel more.
In the end, we’ve realized there isn’t just one right path: we want to start building our life around what truly makes us happy. That’s why, at the end of 2025, we’ll quit our jobs to dedicate ourselves to new experiences outside the four walls of an office. After our trip to Malaysia in 2024, we completely fell in love with Asia: the people, the food, the nature, the lifestyle… everything! That’s why we want to return and this time fully immerse ourselves in local cultures and communities. We believe Workaway is the perfect way to do that: learning, sharing, helping out, and living authentic experiences we could never have as simple tourists.
And after that, who knows where life will take us. The only thing we’re sure of is that we’ll be richer in experiences and happier (and maybe we won’t even want to come back to the West 😉).
