Hello! I'm Layne, and I'm a writer originally from California, currently living in Berlin, Germany. I'm passionate about storytelling, traveling, building bridges across cultures - and doing physical work to balance out my creative work. I love to cook and eat, walk and hike, work in the garden [my gardening knowledge is limited, but I have some experience harvesting olives]. I work hard and catch on quickly—and want to learn more about how to live off the land. I spent years working in NGOs/nonprofits and dream of starting a small-scale artist residency in Sicily.

Cooking: I spent many years working in restaurants, so am happy in any kitchen
Project management: I have a degree in NGO management and spent many years working in the nonprofit sector in the US.
Gardening: my knowledge is limited, but I am eager to learn more about growing vegetables and plants, and pruning—and I'm a good weed puller.
Languages: I'm a native English speaker, and I also speak fluent German and Spanish, remedial Italian, and basic Bulgarian.
Hospitality: having spent years in the service industry, I understand how to make people feel well taken care of.
I'm ready and willing to learn any skill(s) I don't have that a host might need.
