Hi, I'm Enya and I'm taking a gap year in which I want to travel to new places, make unforgettable memories and experience the cultures and nature of foreign countries. I love being in nature and doing all kinds of things outside, such as hiking, running or horse riding. I'm always looking for the next adventure and apart from that, I can't wait to get to know new people and spend time with them.

In general I am very open and interested in learning everything that is necessary. I love to aquire new skills a lot. I already have experience in childcare, animal care (especially horses, dogs and cats), during the last year I learned more about gardening, I'm able to teach German, English and a little bit of French and Spanish.

I spent the last 3 weeks on this beautiful finca and wow I had such a great time! Ronny and Eva are the most caring, kind, open and simply amazing people. I enjoyed staying with them a lot because it felt like they really care about their volunteers and they always made sure I was happy. They are super welcoming and just the kind of hosts you … read more would wish for. And of course the kids are both so lovely and vivid. They were always ready to help me with my spanish while we did a lot of origami together :).

The work itself was very easy and I liked how it didn't really get boring because there was always something different to do. In the morning I fed the animals and then (after enjoying a delicious breakfast with freshly picked eggs and the creamiest avocados) I did tasks like weeding, removing etiquettes from glass bottles, cutting bushes, laying paths and going to the beach to find the perfectly sized stones for the roof of the new massage room that is now being constructed! Oh, and I learned about the insulating properties of picón! So, all in all there was always something to do, although I never felt pressured to do the work in a certain time and I was very free to decide at what time of the day I want to do the tasks.

The finca itself is absolutely stunning with such an amazing view on the sea and I loved to do some yoga on the terrace in the morning, while the sun rose out of the sea! And don't even get me started on the garden, it has the most delicous vegetables and fruits, a lot of things that I have never seen before but they are so good!
The bed is in a simple room that I shared at times with another volunteer (which was very nice) and I slept very well at night (if I wasn't woken up by any roosters ;)). And once I got used to it, I even enjoyed the cold showers.

All in all I can say that this was the perfect first workaway experience for me and I already miss the place and the people. Also La Palma is such a beautiful island with stunning nature, hikes and beaches! One time Eva even organized a surf lesson for me (because a friend of hers
is a surf teacher) which was very cool.
Muchas muchas gracias Ronny and Eva for welcoming me so openly on your finca, for sharing your lifestyle with me, showing me a different way of living than the one I know and always bringing good vibes to the finca!
