Descrição
Hi, humans!!
I'm Natsumi from Japan. I graduated in May 2025 from college in the US as an international student with a degree in sustainable food system (food culture or farming etc)
Now that I’ve crossed the academic finish line, I’m taking a gap year to explore the world and its many cultures, and to stay as close to nature as I possibly can, for as long as I can. This is my time to wander, learn, and grow beyond classrooms.
To give you a quick introduction, here’s a short list of my loves and non-negotiables:
Things I love:
-Food! Especially:
Ethnic cuisines /Any kind of bread (I love any gluten products)/chocolate/pizza/ beans/cornbread/ biscuits/ sweet potatoes/ corn/ tacos/ milk
-Exploring new food cultures
-Conversations with people from different backgrounds
-Learning from those who are wise or just deeply passionate
-People who love and respect nature
-Understanding what people truly value
-Experiential learning -I want to feel things, not just read about them
-Books about the environment, Indigenous knowledge, ecology, spirituality...
-Peace. Always.
-Zoning out and just being
-Long walks, cycling, being outdoors in general!!
-Working on farms, especially WEEDING (it’s meditative)
-I'm crazy about coffee and lattes!!! and ICE CREAM
Things I struggle with:
-Oysters (the only food I can’t do)
-Mindlessly scrolling on my phone
-Cold weather
-Computers and tech overload
-Singing (creativity isn’t my strong suit, and that’s okay)
-Crowded places, like Tokyo
-Cooking (plz help me)
I’m okay with:
-Insects and wild animals
-Sweltering heat and humidity
-Hard, physical labor (bring it on)
One of my favorite sayings is:
"Make work fun. Take fun seriously." I live by it , I go all in, full throttle, no brakes.
Always curious. Always open to new things.
Thanks for stopping by and getting to know a little piece of me!!

I'm not fluent in English, but I was able to graduate from college in the US.. I just started learning Spanish and Korean (August 2025). Eventually I want to pick up Spanish, Korean, Italian, Turkish, Portuguese and German. My life goal is to be able to speak those languages well enough to communicate with native speakers and make friends, although it's going to be a crazy long journey!

Quais são suas habilidades?
I believe I can adapt to new environments quickly. I know that stepping into something unfamiliar can be uncomfortable, and I welcome that.
I don’t consider myself exceptionally skilled or talented, and I know I still have so much to learn. But I show up with curiosity, openness, and a willingness to do the work. I don't know everything, but I’m here to learn.
.. Let's be honest, sorry in advance if I'm useless.

My visit coincided with the busiest time of year, so things were quite hectic. Each day, we were expected to harvest a specific amount of coffee cherries. If you're quick and efficient at picking, the workload feels manageable. But since I was super… read more
