Now I am hosting on Isla Ometepe We receive volunteers.
Chamán Vida.....Hello friends, we are Hostel Chaman Isla de Ometepe (San Ramón Mérida) very rural, basic and humble with the idea of becoming self-sustainable and ecological without losing the true essence of the place and that the community also benefits from our social aid programs (collection of garbage and recycling) that one of the biggest problems on the Island.

We are in front of the lake where the sunsets are magical from where you can see the Concepción volcano and the Madeira volcano is our neighbor just 2km away from the property and 500 meters from the main entrance of the San Ramón waterfall (waterfall) where there are a pier. This is a very rural, very safe area far from normality and surrounded by nature, the property has 35,000 square meters, there are many fruit trees, lemon, orange, avocado, coconut, ginger, taro, banana, plantain, and others. It is a fertile land because it is of volcanic origin, many birds, White-faced monkeys and howler monkeys are our neighbors.

The Island is a very popular tourist destination for backpackers and tourists of all ages. It has many tourist attractions, such as hiking to the Ka Yak volcanoes, swimming in the lake or fishing, riding a bicycle, in the town there is rental of scooters and quad bikes ( This in Moyogalpa or Balgüe) and most importantly all the natural beauties that are around us and the magical sunsets.

Job Type: Jobs are organized by importance
The biggest of all is Garbage Collection (we will try to reuse most of the waste in constructions within the property).
Cleaning of surroundings of the property (and in the Community)
Organization and separation of usable materials and waste
Organization and construction of gardens (collection of local plants in the mountainous parts)
Basic Maintenance Painting and Construction
Construction and Maintenance of a Garden (part of being self-sustainable)
Construction of a Chicken Coop
Compost Construction
Crafts and Murals we are open to any project.

The property has 3.5 hectares and most of it is forest with a trail around it. We have a ranch, kitchen and living room. We have three bedrooms and a small cabin, all very basic. Don Andrés (the owner) lives on the property and his two children, Eitan, 7 years old, and Kener, 9 years old, are a single father who needs a lot of help.

Food: Basic rice beans bread coffee vegetables bananas any fruit or vegetables that are produced in their respective season on the property. There is a small store (convenience store) nearby 800 meters from the property and there are different street vendors with different products.
Accommodation: Single bed in shared accommodation (preferably last minute change availability). We have several rooms
Working hours: 5 hours per day 6 days per week day off Monday.
Minimum Stay 2 weeks (12 Days or more) we give priority to volunteers looking for long stays.

From Moyogalpa to the hostel there are 27km
Transportation options from Moyogalpa:
Taxi (negotiate price)
Bus (take the bus to San Ramón, it passes in front of the hotel)
Bus (take bus to Alta Gracia, get off at Quino https://maps.app.goo.gl/y9wrwvyn9CAkayuWA and transfer to another bus, the last stop is 1.5km from the hostel, you have to walk)
Rent Scooter Moto or Caudracilo(ATV) in Moyogalpa.
Ask for a ride (Good Luck).

The most important thing is to help Don Andres and his children not to lose their business because they are economically very bad. They are a very humble family, they live off what they have day by day. We hope to receive people who are open to enjoying the true culture, the true way of life. the families of the island with their wood stoves and their constructions we want volunteers who really want to experience and live in nature in a simple and basic way who value the true meaning of helping who want to learn and help the experience is acquired when there is interest learn....Thank you Total We hope to see you soon.

Yo soy Jimmy amigo de la familia y administrador de este nuevo proyecto soy de Costa Rica soy constructor desde hace 25 años me especializo en permacultura bioconstruccion y auto-sostenibilidad me gusta utilizar la mayoría de recursos disponibles soy de familia de agricultores y artesanos donde aprendí mucho sobre agricultura orgánica en mi niñes eh trabajado en varios proyectos en Costa Rica Rincón de la Vieja Tamarindo Nosara Horquetas Sarapiqui asesorando construyendo y administrando varios lugares en zonas muy turisticas. Tengo 6 años de experiencia de trabajar con voluntarios de diferentes website.Me gusta la naturaleza lo salvaje la música jugar con los niños como si yo fuera un niño soy una persona de mente abierta que le gustan los retos y creo que vivir en la isla es uno lo básico y lo sencillo es mejor.

I am Jimmy, friend of the family and administrator of this new project. I am from Costa Rica. I am a builder for 25 years. I specialize in permaculture, bioconstruction and self-sustainability. I like to use most of the available resources. I am from a family of farmers and artisans where I learned a lot about organic agriculture. In my childhood I worked on several projects in Costa Rica Rincón de la Vieja Tamarindo Nosara Horquetas Sarapiqui advising on building and managing several places in very touristy areas. I have 6 years of experience working with volunteers from different websites. I like wild nature, music, playing with children as if I were a child. I am an open-minded person who likes challenges and I believe that living on the island is one of the basics and simplicity is better.
